Lazard with Jax Makes Me Sad

He rarely went up against press coverage in college. He’ll face that on nearly every down in the NFL and his lack of sudden quickness and acceleration will be an issue. Great college player tho. Would have been interesting to see him at TE but ISU needed him more at WR.

I'm not a football genius, but why wouldn't a reciever with Lazards strength just engage the corner and push him off in press coverage. I would give lazard the edge physically against even most NFL cornerbacks.

I’m not an expert, but I’m guessing because pushing off is a penalty?

I could be wrong about that.

Marquise Lee got a pretty significant knee injury. That could change some things for the WR core.

They’ll only call that if the ball is in the air. In order to get off a jam at the line the receiver could push off, but more than likely the timing of the route would already be messed up anyway.

Yeah, he was a great target and really good for the back shoulder type of stuff, but not exactly someone you just throw it up for for him to out run everyone.

That's more Butler's game.

He might still find a team/role that works in the future.

I really hope they don’t decide to look at Dez. He’s been average for the last couple of years.

Right now.... Dez = Lazard as far as talent, but Lazard is 10x the human being and teammate... and a LOT cheaper too.

Dez and Lazard are both big receivers, but Dez has lost the ability to get separation now too, and so they are both the same guy basically. They are just redzone guys you can lob it to in the endzone.

I'd stay FAR away from Dez if I'm any NFL team. He will ruin your locker room and especially your starting QB when he's constantly yelling at them on the sideline all game long.

Put down the Kool Aid, man. Dez still managed 800 yards and half a dozen TDs last year. Lazard has done exactly nothing in the NFL. Nobody in their right mind would say they are equal in talent, right now.

I would. Especially when factoring in the HUGE negative that Dez is to any team's chemistry and locker room.

Dez looked very pedestrian last year, and actually not good in some games.

Take of the Cardinal and Gold glasses, dude. Lazard could end up being great, but he's not equal to Dez, talent-wise, right now. Just don't. You're making a fool out of yourself.

I'm sorry, I just would never sign Dez if I were an NFL GM. Way too many negatives for me.

Even if Lazard isn't as talented (which is arguable IMO with Dez at his age), you'd be saving yourself multiple millions of bucks while getting a kid what will bust his tail, be great in the locker room, and won't cause any issues off the field at all.

And you're factoring in the fact that Dez will make Bortles his b**ch, get in his head, and ruin him, right? Bortles isn't great now, and Dez will make him worthless. You want to sign that to your team? Go ahead. Not me.

Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say they should sign Dez. I very specifically said you were wrong when you said that Dez and AL were a push, talent-wise. I said nothing beyond that.

Ability wise maybe, I guess Dez gets the experience edge for talent at this point, but I would tend to agree with clonedude for once. I take Allen over Dez.

ps

And I'm a die hard Cowboys fan.

Keep digging that hole you are in. How many NFL teams have you worked for? You can bookmark this post if you want but I will bet you Dez is eventually signed by someone and sees more playing time than Lazard this season. Right now I'm not even that confident that Lazard will be on an active NFL roster when the season starts. Nothing against Lazard but I bet you if you polled NFL GMs and I'd they had to sign 1 of the 2 every one of them would pick Dez. A lot of fans probably don't want their team to sign Dez because of his ego and antics but a GM in need of a WR and wants to win games will eventually give him an opportunity.
