Woah...I had to double check because I figured there was a minor leaguer with the same name.
For another pitcher, no. I think Hamels was an insurance policy on any possible bad Darvish news. I think Humphrey is insurance on Russell and/or Bryant.
It's really frustrating watching Zobrist watch two very hittable pitches go by for strikes, and then swings at a pitch up and in to pop out and end the inning. I wish the Cubs were more aggressive on first pitches.
I think we need to start a bullpen pitcher each game, have that person pitch the first inning, and then have the starter come in for the second inning and beyond.
Yeah, the last month he's made up for his complete lack of power by rarely getting on base. If Caratini wasn't terrible, I'd make the case they should give him multiple days off to see if it helps. As it is, they're in too tight of a race to bench him for any length of time since even as bad as he's been playing, he's still better than caratini
