MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

Well damn.
At least the Cards lost. The way this last month and a half may go the division may be decided against St Louis at the end.

Maybe I'm just getting cranky as I age but just haven't really enjoyed watching this team this year.

They might make the playoffs but severely doubt they will do much damage once/if they get there.

It's a blessing they got the split with only scoring 4 runs. Hopefully our pitching can keep this up and the offense can pull out of this freaking slump soon.

i hate that call so, so much. Especially as the visiting team. Sure, if it works you have the lead but A) I'm not sure if works more often than just letting them play and B) it greatly reduces the chances of scoring multiple runs which is important since the other team gets to bat again

Hey, what do ya know the other team did in fact score. ******* bunt

Should have easily taken that series. It’s officially a slump. Good time for a day off.

they need the first half offense to show up. If it doesn't, yeah it'll be a short post season

I don't think it was a pitchout, Rodriguez just missed his spot like he did all inning.
It was 100% a pitchout. Watch it again. Catcher set up wayyyy outside and Rodriguez put it right where he wanted. Good play on the Pirates part.

A total of 4 runs scored in 4 games. This team is really tough to watch. How do you only score 4 runs against the freaking Pirates???

And to make matters worse the worst free agent signing of all time lasted a whopping one inning before wimping out again. Just retire Darvish if you're going to stop pitching every time you have a hang nail.

Great time to be slumping with 23 games in the next 23 days. This team feels like it’s on the verge of collapsing

Technically they have an off day tomorrow, but then 23 straight, and 39 games in the 41 days to end the season. The good thing is, 16 of the last 19 games this season will be played in Chicago.

They remind me of Fred’s last team. So much talent but so many lost focus lulls and inconsistency. They won despite how poorly they played at times.

And still, this year's team is far out preforming last year's team. Additionally, there is no juggernaut in the NL this season, so advancing through the first two series won't be a huge challenge for any NL team.

I don’t disagree with any of this... but I have readjusted my postseason expectations after this last month.

And despite all of that the magic number still manages to fall...
