Reports were 71 concussions on kickoff plays in the last 6 years. Absolutely the least exciting play in the NFL anymore, even if one gets busted for 6.

I dunno. A good returner or good special teams unit has always been an equalizer. As a fan I'd be kind of sorry to see it go. But I understand the reasoning behind wanting to get rid of it. I just wish that if that's what they want to do then they would do it instead of gradually inching that way with a whole bunch of nonsense rule changes.

Yeah, and with this past offseason, there's no way Rodgers gives them any kind of home town discount. I can't blame him for that. If they're not going to consult with him, then why should he?

As a Vikings fan, I am hoping he cripples any remaining cap room they have for years to come

That's exactly what I was thinking. There's only so much cap you can tie up in one player and still have a functioning team.

Yes Rodgers is a great QB, but if you can get 80% of that production for half the price, well then there's got to be a tipping point.

Anyone else following this story? It's kind of surprising that the Lions didn't know about it before they hired him. You'd think a basic pre-employment background check would have unearthed this. Whether it would have been enough to give them second thoughts about hiring him is another question entirely, but for now it looks like they're going to publicly back him and wait for this to blow over. We'll see. The league has been hypersensitive to violence against women the last few years, so what happens might not just be up to the team.

I actually didn't mind Sean McDonough in the MNF booth - his voice was a call-back to the old broadcast days. I like hearing McFarland on ESPN Radio, but not sure how that's going to translate to dynamic playcalling. I believe McFarland was doing pre-game coverage on the SEC Network, but I've never seen - he must have done enough for ESPN to make this move.

BTW Tessitore did the ESPN Play-by-Play for the ISU-OK State FB game. The second best "Touchdown! They did it!" call ever heard

It would appear Reuben Foster will still be playing for the 49ers.

Good Lord the woman he was involved with seems like a real peach:

Can't wait to not watch the new team.

Are you seriously not going to watch Monday Night Football because you don't like the broadcasting team?

I usually only make time to watch if my favorite team is playing, but if I had more time I would watch pretty much any NFL game on TV. Who cares who is announcing?

This exactly. The broadcast team is just window dressing. If it's a good game I'll watch. And if it sucks then I'm not going to hang around for whoever happens to have a microphone. How often do you really pay any attention to who is in the booth?

Honestly what was the last crew that people stated they enjoyed just as much as the game?

Howard Cosell with Gifford and Dandy Don?

A bad crew can detract from a game, but if it's a good game, I don't care who's on the call. With DVR I fast forward through a lot of the BS anyways.

Anymore the brodcast team just doesn't matter much. I guess Romo got some positive attention for his calls last season but for me personally it's mostly just white noise.

The only thing that bugs me now is when they try to have broacasters calling a game remotely from Bristol on ESPN. That's a cheesy move, and it does affect the viewing experience.
