On That Note: Screen Gems

I also was introduced to this via ncaa football. Can't remember the year that featured this on the soundtrack, but it one of several solid songs.

It was NCAA 2006 and it had a GREAT soundtrack! Now I'm going to have to go listen to all the songs I don't already have in my library.

Bad Religion "Atomic Garden"
The Clash " Train in Vain (Stand by Me)"
De La Soul "Me Myself and I"
Guided by Voices "Teenage FBI"
Jawbreaker "Bad Scene, Everyone's Fault"
Lagwagon "Know It All"
Lush "Ladykillers"
Mother Love Bone "This Is Shangri-La"
The Mr. T Experience "More Than Toast"
Ned's Atomic Dustbin "Kill Your Television"
NOFX "Jeff Wears Birkenstocks?"
Pixies "Debaser"
Superchunk "Hyper Enough"
The Pietasters "Out All Night"
Therapy? "Nowhere"

Well I know how I'm going to spend my night tonight. :)

Hell it would be fun to dust off the PS2 and play NCAA06 again. That was a great year for the franchise. I believe there were touchdown celebrations, including the Heisman pose, and FCS teams were in the game as well I think. It has the new Race for the Heisman mode which was a blast at the time as well.

I remember manually entering all of the ISU players names, and many of the best players from around the country. It took forever and some of them never matched up, but I enjoyed it.

I think I broke pretty much every receiving record possible with Blythe.

Of all the old editions I play this one the most. I would get a memory card from a place that put the names in for me.

I never splurged or trusted those places to send it to me if I did pay for them. But I wanted to.

I played so many seasons that it didn't matter in a few years. They'd all be created recruits.

'06 or '07 was at the extreme tail end of my sports-gaming days, I remember playing NCAA FB from that year, my stepson had it and we played it a little, not much. I dabbled solo for a brief time.

I thought it was cool what you could do because the previous version I had played was maybe around '02 or so. I got so hung up creating custom teams, uniforms and schedules. I didn't do a lot of roster-making and maybe didn't even get through a full season. :) So typical of me.

Does anyone even make a college basketball series anymore? I liked those a lot, too, not quite as interesting to play as FB.

I had to do a little research for this one, but apparently the inspiration for "30 days in the Hole" was a Cagney/Bogart film--or so said Steve Marriott, author of the song and one of rock's greatest vocalists.

Since there have been former athletes suing EA sports, they are no longer making college sports games. EA NCAA 14 was the last NCAA football game and 2K NCAA Basketball 10 was the last bball game.

I really enjoyed the games from the PS2 era, but what really revolutionized sports gaming was when internet improved enough so that Online Games and Online Dynasties became a big deal. I played so much NCAA12-14 because I was in an Online League with friends (real life and CycloneFanatic) and other random internet strangers. Up to 12 people could control teams and build them up for multiple seasons. One league I was in went for 10 seasons on one game release. Lots of great online battles for Conference and National Titles. I still play NCAA14 from time to time, but it's really hard to find a good dynasty to join because not as many people are playing and my regular league, that I played in for about 4 years, fell apart.

There are lots of people, including my old NCAA buddies, playing in Online Madden Leagues, but I haven't gotten into them yet. I just got a PS4 last Christmas but I don't have enough time to devote to an online league right now.
