Can there be more than one of these? I feel like I would fit in to that role quite well, also.

Family gatherings SHOULD be an excuse to get drunk with the people you love. Let the kids play by themselves for a while so you can all tell stories about each other.

Sadly my immediate family is not that fun. We had margaritas for one gathering and I think my mom was going to go nuts. My inlaws are actually much more fun in this regard.

This has been brought up in my Facebook feed lately and I have to admit it looks like it could be pretty fun for a large gathering. The price looks intimidating, but if you split it up among 10-13 families, it's much more reasonable.

That does look fun and, TBH, I would think the price would be higher. We paid almost that much for 7 bedrooms plus a bunk room in Colorado last summer and all it had was a crappy pool table and hot tub.

Heck, I get a little paranoid whenever I see someone follow me into my neighborhood if they stay with me for 3-4 turns beforehand (there's zero reason for someone to come into my neighborhood unless you live there and the roads twist and turn a lot).

Pretty sure it is state law in KS that all residential neighborhoods be a maze and the developers make it a game as to who can make the trickiest one.

All the new developments in Omaha seem to be the same way. I don't even want to go into one for fear I might never get out.

I think the reasoning is that it gives the sense of having more space because your side windows don't look directly on your neighbors house. The flip side is that it also gives you window access to more neighbor's houses.

It also makes it cozier because you can't look forever for blocks down one street. Probably one of the biggest reasons is to reduce the usefulness of streets to be through street shortcuts through neighborhoods. No one want to live on a street that is supposed to be a residential neighborhood but has become a busy impromptu thoroughfare because people have found they can cut 90 seconds off of their commute by cutting through at twice the posted speed limit.

We have relatives near Shadow Lake that we visit every 4th of July. One year I was coming back from the Storm Chasers game in the dark. I made a wrong turn in their neighborhood--not only did I have to navigate the convoluted streets, everyone was blocking streets doing fireworks. That was fun.

Taxes almost done. Finally got around to filing the 1099s we are required to so I will consider that a win. Should finish the taxes tomorrow night. Also **** you Turbo Tax for counting my HSA as income before asking if it was all used on healthcare expenses sending the estimated return thing swinging all over the place giving me a heart attack.

Too cloudy to see the eclipse.

I haven't even gotten all my tax forms yet.

This and this. We missed out on the solar eclipse due to clouds, too. My oldest was like, "My kids will ask me about these someday and I will have to say I couldn't see them."

Haven't even got hubby's W2 yet.
