Went to the in-laws this past weekend. They live in a house that's a little over 100 years old, and used to be a hospital. Supposedly, it's haunted by a little girl and an old woman, but I've been visiting there for 28-29 years and never had anything happen. Well, that's all changed.
So, the upstairs has basically not been used except for guests for some time now -- the in-laws don't get around too good anymore, so they use the main floor, and rarely go upstairs.
I took my wife's bag and my own up the stairs and went to turn the hallway light on, and I'm guessing it was her hair dryer banged loudly into one of the doors. Took a couple steps toward our bedroom, and heard this weird noise -- like a fan or something running -- that I'd not heard before, and I'm thinking to myself, "Is that some kind of heater or something..." Then just as I realized what it was, the noise quit. It was the sewing machine running. Bags dropped in the bedroom and scooted downstairs.
Later that night, I got up the nerve to go up and brush my teeth. As I was doing so, the bathtub faucet turned on and immediately shut off again. I'm getting goose bumps again, just thinking about it.
Some of the stories I've heard from others:
My grand nephew got a bath and my SIL was getting him dressed (he was 3). "Nana, close the door, I don't like that old lady looking at me."
My daughters and their cousins were playing video games in in-laws old bedroom. Attic door swings open and slams shut.
Clothes basket sitting about 5 feet from the stairs suddenly slides down the stairs.
Just kidding.
I'd have run away screaming like a little girl, leaving a trail of tears and pride behind me.
