Ok........ you owned a ferret?? Or were they just roaming around wherever you lived? Sounds like a pet I’d be more afraid of. Wife’s BIL had a pet raccoon. It sits on top of their bookcase because when he died the BIL had him stuffed.
Pets I've had:
dogs - as a child on the farm
cats - I've had inbred farm cats in my youth as well as my two current indoor residents
bettas and other random fish - pro tip, keep bettas separate from other fish if you want to keep the other fish
rabbit - found him outside our rental house in college, cute little dude, became our party mascot, **** everywhere and did not care
guinea pig - nature's jester, made all sorts of funny noises and ran like it was a furry sausage on short legs, chewed through electrical cords, like the rabbit-**** everywhere and did not care
chinchilla - cool pets, trying to catch a hyper one is like throwing a bouncy ball down a marble hallway as hard as you can and trying to grab it, cuddly, takes dust baths (which are freaking adorable), drawback - their defense mechanism is standing on their hind legs and spraying urine in a lawn-sprinkler fashion
ferrets - most entertaining since they move like drunk toddlers and give zero thoughts to the consequences of their movements until they comically fall backwards down a flight of stairs, drawback is the smell-you can bathe them daily and still never quite get rid of it
I grew up with a dog all of the time, but haven't had one since. I'll likely get another dog some day, but I want to have a bigger yard and have more time to spend with him first.
