Exactly. There's no way you're winning the recruiting battle by sticking to the facts. Sales is about hyperbole and I get that. As long as coaches aren't making promises they know to be false, then it's part of the game. I think about putting myself in that situation and how hard it would be to pick a school.s

I think it was CW who mentioned something about him being used "in a Joel Lanning role"... not like in 3rd and 1 and run a QB draw up the middle.. but maybe if we wanna run a speed option or something.. because I don't think you'd wanna run an RPO with Kempt or Noland

If you put in the work & effort, you'll eventually find your way on to the field in some way. Especially with Re-al's athleticism. He's already on campus and will compete in spring ball. Look for him to play as a true freshman in running packages while Purdy redshirts.

When a coach makes those promises, those promises are contingent upon the recruit continuing to progress, compete, and do what is required of them at the collegiate level. I'm sure there is some level of dishonesty in certain recruiting pitches, but this staff has shown that they are quite transparent and trustworthy throughout this process.

Well if Campbell is content with Purdy being our "thrower" and Mitchell being our "runner," it could work.

I'd be pretty shocked if he went to Bama. While it would be a dream as a player, I don't think he'd ever see the field. Even if he is the only QB in his class, Bama has two years after this year to find a QB to replace Tua.

They more than likely have Paul Tyson in 2019, who's a 4 star Alabama native and goes to HS an hour away from Tuscaloosa.

I agree. I don't mean to imply the coaches would intentionally lie to a recruit. Though, I'm sure some recruiters actually do intentionally lie. I'm just relating to how hard the decision would be because you have to ignore a lot of the "promises."

That being said, if you're a top recruit in the country, you're likely extremely competitive. Your mindset would and should be "I can compete and beat anyone, no matter what happens." So, maybe it's a moot point. Full disclosure: I was not a top HS recruit in any sport. Though, I was ranked in the top 10 of engineers coming out of the Big 12 my senior year. :)

Poster said you can't trust anything a coach says. I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. I do not have first hand experience of recruiting.

We're going to take a quarterback in every class and I'd be disappointed if we weren't trying to upgrade talent. It's definitely a tough decision for most kids to make, but they are living in a bubble if they think the coaches are going to stop recruiting their position for the next recruiting class. Look at Georgia's quarterback recruitment the last few years.

I just re-watched some of his highlights from his junior year, plus from the Elite 11 camp. He puts quite a bit more zip on the ball than I seemed to remember. Probably needs to work on accuracy, but he certainly has the arm to be an above average passer in the Big 12. He's far from being only a running QB.

Agree with this!!! Trust me they brought him here to be a lot more than just a gimmick package player. Which is why in my original statement I don't like that him and Brock would be so close in classification; however competition is good!
