NCAA BASKETBALL CORRUPTION SCHEME

Incredibly, Jay Williams today was heaping all the blame for the corruption scandal on the NCAA. His take is that it's their fault for allowing the shoe companies on campus and cutting deals/increasing salaries with coaches. I LOL when he said you shouldn't even call this a "scandal".

Yeah - it's as if he believes that FBI raids on major colleges is a common thing!

On a side note, Louisville AD Jurich and Larry Eustachy are good friends going all the way back to when they played high school ball together. There were rumors swirling back in the day that Jurich would hire his friend Larry to replace Denny Crum but he went with Pitino instead.

Jurich actually has a house out here in Colorado. Maybe they'll be seeing a lot more of each other now.

It isn't a scandal until the IRS shows up at his house asking him about the unreported shoe money.

It's 2017. The race card is important for the media's page views.

Myron using the race card:

Our boy FranF's reply:

This isn't a race issue. In fact, the only color that matters in any of this is dollar green.

The genie has been out of the bottle for quite a while, and AAU parents (and even the kids) are wise to how the game is played. Can't blame them for trying to get something, as nothing in life is guaranteed and "everybody else is doing it". Hope ISU isn't involved with this, but nothing would surprise me at this point if something shady didn't happen in the past. I hope the FBI will concentrate on the biggest fish - were the NCAA handling this I'd expect the blue bloods to get the customary wrist slap and the ISUs of the world to get mega sanctions.

If this rolls over into football, I've got misgivings about the Chiz years, cause Chiz and his need for a bag man, err chaplain. But, we've lost so many games over the years that if we're this historically poor AND we've been cheating, well, I just may have to be done with football on general principle.

So if we have to forfeit losses, does that turn them into wins for the record books?

Wednesday night, Alabama accepted the resignation of men’s basketball administrator Kobie Baker after an internal review. Baker’s previous job: assistant director of enforcement at the NCAA.

Alabama wasn't one of the named schools from yesterday, right?

I get the distinct impression that your average sports commentator is completely out of their depth on this one.
