Sorry to hear all of your old classmates are dying.
Yeah...worded that one kind of poorly, didn't I? Although we've lost about 20 percent since graduation. We actually lost three while still in school - one per year in 10th, 11th & 12th. Our class was a little over 500; about 100 are gone now.

Once again the lack of a jimlad bites us in the ass...

Plus, pre-1954 and the verbiage edit it would have been bottles 99.99% of the time. When pop embraced cans, and then plastics, is when they truly solidified their position as the devil's evil drink.

Not worded poorly at all, it's just that it is Smart-ass Friday here on RTT. :)

And, damn girl, them some morbid death stats. Yikes.

Speaking of old classmates, two of the gals I went to HS with post stuff weekly that I do a double take on and think "Oh, no, I really really really doubt that is true". Verification is a search click away and I find a dozen conformations that it is a hoax. I don't think they are part of the fake news brigade, maybe just super trusting and extremely gullible. I guess the new axiom is spot on, "If it's on the interweb it must be true" or "A friend shared it, I trust my friend!" I don't bother correcting them.

This weeks best doozies were (1) Boycott Pepsi because they did a commemorative can with the pledge of allegiance and left out " under God", ah, no they did not/do not have any such can (2) If a bad guy forces you to go to an ATM to withdraw cash just enter your pin in reserve and it will summon the police, ah, no, no it will not. (3) countless paranoid posts about rampant crime in little ol NE Iowa, if you do xy or z they will get your stuff!
For the really egregious, or the ones that have multiple responses who eagerly agree and want to share it on their pages, I will respond with the Snopes or FactCheck.org debunking, without adding any comments of my own. Most of the time, though, I ignore them.

Much alcohol consumption resulting in accidents (one actually died going home from our 20th or 30th reunion function), much cancer. Yeah, makes me realize I'm kinda lucky I left the PNW. :D

Rev (and Erik) - I hope Z has a wonderful time! Kids take their cues from the people they know, so if YOU are excited for her, pretty good odds she will be excited also.

My boys started preschool together (19 months age difference) so they always had each other to lean on. That is, until they got older & started hating each other (most of the years between10 & 20)... :(

They're still very different, but they're much better friends now.

Son just called from Missouri. My one & only grandson has a birthday coming up. Our family tradition has always been to have the birthday boy/girl decide where they want to go for dinner. When my boys were young, it was nearly always Shogun...they LOVED that place. However, grandson tells his dad "I want to go up to grandma's for fried chicken!"

Heart.

Officially melted.

Not sure. Kind of fun.
I kinda figured you liked playing with it...but the variety in my posts where you used it has me a tad concerned.
You're Campbelled that 20% of my graduating class has passed away, you're Campbelled that I back up Snopes with FactCheck.org, you're Campbelled that my boys don't hate each other anymore, and you're Campbelled that my grandson wants fried chicken.

Well, I guess I see Campbell as multi-faceted and quite versatile. The Campbell for your fallen classmates is somber and perhaps a bit melancholy as he hums "Dust in the Wind", whereas the Campbell for your grandson appreciating your fried chicken is exuberant and joyous.
