Not a great clip for Fred...

Thread is distracting. First glance I always first "see" this....

Velo (wearing blue): ...and that is why Bill Self has done such an impressive job at KU.

Carvers: Have a Bill Self booger picking gif. When you defend Bill Self you sound like a Jayhawk.

<Velo posts booger gif>

Carvers: Better?

Velo (now wearing cardinal): Better!

Wouldn't a Snickers bar been faster?

I see Rondo has called out Fred too, in comparing the Celtics with Bulls:

"They (vets) couldn't change the plan because it didn't suit them, I played under one of the greatest coaches, and he held everyone accountable."

They don't have any fear of Hoiberg at all.

Other than the cash, why would anyone want to coach in the NBA. As you get older, you realize that some so called promotions are just really sucky jobs that pay more. Fred should have returned to a NBA front office job if he didn't want to coach in college anymore.

Fred was never a disciplinarian. He let the players police themselves. It works great when the team holds themselves accountable. That takes leadership though. Not seeing much leadership from the players.

I think two other reasons are the ability to test yourself against the best and the challenge. There are good coaches in college, but I'd say the NBA has better coaches. Plus, it's more difficult to win an NBA championship in my opinion, both of those are probably big draws.

But I don't really follow the NBA, so if a NBA regular wants to correct me, go ahead

Other than the cash? That's like saying "Other than the bullet, how was the play Mr. Lincoln?"

That said, coaches want to coach at the highest level. They certainly don't think they are going to fail even if it's daunting.

I saw a study that said after abojt 70k for a family of four money matters a lot less for job satisfaction than enjoying what you do and your bosses.

Fred's in a bad spot and I don't see how he survives. Even if he gets another year they can't rebuild that team again. It will be another year of the same and he's guaranteed out after that. No way in hell he ever gets another crack at an NBA gig after this. He will become next in a long line of college coaches that couldn't make the transition.

I don't cheer for or against the Bulls. But the way Fred handled everything and the timing of his silence leading up to the Bulls I would be lying if I said I don't get a little bit of satisfaction seeing him struggle.

I will always pull for Eustachy post ISU but Fred is in the same boat as Tim Floyd for me.

I think it might be time for a refresher on what statement is on the record. Things are getting twisted as Fred publicly proclaiming his hatred of recruiting:

"Not that I hated recruiting," Hoiberg said, "but as an NBA coach, it's just coaching. I love going to practices and coaching the games and that's what you get to do as an NBA coach."

He maybe didn't totally hate it, but the battles to get players had to be frustrating. Besides, Matt A. had to practically beg him to go see some recruits. Saying "its just coaching" pretty much tells all. Recruiting plus the tons of appearances/luncheons/fan tours/guest speaking/etc/etc. He just wants to coach. He'll be fine. Imo, they aren't going to fire him and owe him 15 million. Think they will gut the team this offseason and rebuild, and he will direct the resurgence!

And the NBA is loving him right back!

Even the late night silly shows on ESPN calling Fred out.
The Bulls fans who aren't already on board the Fred hate train will hop on now that the media tide has turned. Surely the Bulls wouldn't fire him after only two years, would they?

He doesn't care, because $$$.

What makes you think they wont. Its the NBA they do this a lot if you are not winning. The Bulls are so mismanaged they are not going to be able to rebuild with him at this point.

I'm not sure what he has done in the NBA so far that would make anyone think he will direct any sort of resurgence. He may very well do it, but all evidence points to him not being able to.
