Random Thoughts IX (The first 8 were probably better)

So many people go by what they hear on TV. I go by the NWS. Their forecast says 6.7". Charlie Shortino on NBC15 says a foot.

This, I don't even watch local TV news at all. I hear a forecast on PBS in the morning and check NWS. Summertime I like to check Weather underground because their Wundermap radar allows me to zoom way in and it has tracks for separate thunderstorm cells.

just realized I have an issue.

So we are doing a Christmas potluck in 30 minutes. Admin was nice enough to arrange oven time for people to cook or reheat things. I just need to reheat mine. But oven is in this building and potluck is in another. I didn't bring an oven mitt or carrier thing to transfer hot pan to other building. Oops.

honestly if DH could get pregnant we'd probably have done so by now. There's a lot of mental hangups in there for me when I think about post-baby. It is neat to see the now quite pregnant girl in my gym class. I'm like yes, I can do that too! The best part is I totally thought it was her first kid and then one night I saw her walking out with two little kids. Blew my mind. Found out last week that another woman who has gone to my class for quite a while is expecting her first. So it's reassuring to see.

I have seen many women continue to exercise while expecting. Just make sure to talk to your Dr about what will need to be modified and when. :)

I rode my bike to work until my 7th month...got too unbalanced at that point, and elected to take the extra time to walk. I don't know what they say now, but back then they told us if it's something you normally do, do it until you feel too uncomfortable (mentally or physically) to do it. Then stop doing it. Simple but effective.

the instructor is always giving alternate things for the moms-to-be when it comes to abs stuff. So I take it you aren't supposed to a lot of ab work.

Question... So I'm applying for an internship with a law enforcement agency and they require you to list all of your violations including traffic. I got a speeding ticket when i was like 16, but I have no idea where I could look that up because it's not on record. Any suggestions?

They don't have a timeframe?
I would think they wouldn't care about one when you were 16.

Winter gloves?

Winter gloves?

I was thinking that or my scarf. I have the wrong scarf today, not has thick as my one yesterday. I want new driving gloves cause the ones I have are so thin. I imagine that would go poorly if I used then as a hot pad. Talked to admin and they do have extra hot pads but there are like 5 other things in the oven right now......guessing those people need them too. So I may see about a combo of my gloves inside my coat sleeves. Then maybe once I'm outside for 8 seconds it'll all be cold anyway, ha.

CG, I know you like to have things organized and planned out to the nth degree, but the truth is planning and adult schedules go out the window when you start having kids. That's NOT a bad thing. It's simply the way things are. Your little bundle will require the lion's share of the available time and focus because they can't do things for themselves...and sometimes other things have to go on hold for a couple of years (or longer with additional kids). You'll find new ways to exercise (like Rev doing pushups with Z weight on her back). You and DH may change your hours a bit at work. You may find a VB or Dodgeball league where they have a kiddy corral, or maybe you'll alternate playing time. There's all kinds of ways you might adapt. The one thing you won't be able to do is plan it all out in advance. :)

Since I drop off Z in the mornings, yesterday's shift:
1. Original plan: 2 chapters, plow right along.
Z's plan: Sleep in, I'm 2 hours late. Do 1 chapter, make a print run and a shopping errand.

2. Today's shift: Z gets up early. Ready to go, but not out the door. No problem. I leave her on the couch with breakfast, go take my occasional shower, then we're both happy and ready to go. Basically on time, got everything done because I'm some kind of machine.

Adapt or die.

I cannot find my balaclava anywhere.

I made my delicious cream cheese sugar cookies and only let Dh take like 8 to his work thing. He could take as much as he wanted of the rest though. I probably should have let him take more since I have a 3rd batch of dough in the freezer anyway.

I really like those cookies.

I fully thought he was holding a cigarette
If that was taken in the 50's or 60's there would be a good chance he was.

I'm not sure if younger people realize just how much people smoked back then. We used to get candy cigarettes at Halloween. I think my Mom and Dad were about the only adults I knew growing up that didn't smoke. Maybe three others didn't. Going to the neighbors was like going to Dean Martins house. Everyone had a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other.
