Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

I like the Subaru commercial that is out with the don't take that theme kids with skis, fluorescent lights, sledge hammers, clippers it just makes me smile when I see it.

So Birdy are you the big winner at the dental drawing?

I misplaced my ISU calendar found it again, now to add BB schedules to it and see which tickets I need to sell.

I could probably handle that. :) Forgot to mention hubby is in Denver all this week so I am flying solo. I may have made a desperate call to Grandpa. Retired people have nothing better to do, right? And I think it may be awhile for north central Iowa to dry out and work on harvest so he should not be busy. Because we all know farmers never really retire (he helps my BIL).
It seems that way most of the time. It also seems that whenever we ask the FIL to watch the kids there is a casino trip planned.

I think it should be illegal for radio stations to play "Livin' on a Prayer" during working hours. That song should only be heard while driving down a highway where you can bellow "WHOOOOOAAAA-OOHHH, LIVIN' ON A PRAYER" at the top of your lungs, or when you're home alone cleaning the house and using wooden spoons for microphones.

Disclaimer: I have never ever ever done either of those things...
It's also allowed when you're on the treadmill. However, it is required that you awkwardly change the length of your stride to match the tempo changes during the song.

It should also be illegal for HyVee to play Bohemian Rhapsody. I posed that question on Facebook...on what one would do when that happens. My former HS choir director replied "YOU SING IT AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS!"

Okay then.
This is the Wayne and Garth effect.

First night in Vegas report:

Drunk level: 7/10
Gambling: +120
Intangibles: can't find all of the light switches in the hotel room to turn off lights. Will sleep with lights on.
I think drunk level may have played a part in intangibles...just going out on a limb here...

As I was driving down the road on my way to Alexandria a couple of weeks back for some reason I noticed my keys weren't in my pocket. Still getting used to the new push start if you have your smarty key on you thingy. Thought okay keys aren't with me then how did I start and drive off? Ah, spare key in the luggage in the backseat!

Love the push button start.
When I see keys now, I protest that I'm not a peasant and can't be treated like one. It changes your whole world.

In preparation for retirement I spent years demonstrating I have no child assistance skills. I don't even like driving big family mobiles so no one calls. Winning.

Tonight's task is mainly transporting the older 2 to get them places they need to be. Since they no longer require cars seats at age 13 & 11, he can truck them around in his new Buick Cascada. Took the 11yr old to volleyball helping a few weeks ago with the top down. ;) I think Grandma got recruited to come on this trip as well, she can help with the younger rugrats.

My older 2 like to start the van while waiting for me. My only fear is after they start it, while climbing over to the passenger seat (because that is easier than opening the door and going around to the passenger side), they are going to knock the gearshift and send the van through the house or down the driveway.

Saw my first of these on Hwy 55 yesterday. Did a mini double-take before I figured out what it was.

My car has the keyless start. This morning, I got into my car after dropping my daughter off at daycare and tried starting my car. Apparently the battery has finally died because I was forced to undo the crappy little key from the fob and start my car like a pauper. I'm thinking of just throwing the car away and getting a new one.
