Emmanuel Malou thread

Wasn't Deandre Kane like 24 when he was here?

Age isn't the issue. It is how long he continued to play basketball after leaving HIghschool. He left after his jr. In Connecticut a 16/17 year old. You get 1 year of time where you can continue to play before your clock starts. Hence the issue is they are counting what should be his sr. In australia at a tech school as his prep year and 2 years at abcd and 2 years at juco. So he will get 1 if they decide his time in Australia was more on par with a senior year in HS since he did not graduate. He wil get 2 if they consider the time at abcd was a situation where he was a victim and thus circumstances beyond his control. I think it is reasonable that Rural guess could be what happens. It is also very possible they say he isn't eligable at all which would be pretty callous considering all he has gone through to go to college. DeAndre graduated HS at 19 did a year of prep, redshirted at Pitt and was a 21 year old RS freshman and why he was 25 when he left ISU as a 5th year grad transfer. His 5 year clock started when he was 20. Malou's may have started at 17.

I don't think they are going to count his time in Australia against him since he never graduated from the school in Connecticut. He didn't go to Australia to hang out: he was in a school. Just doesn't make sense to start his clock while he is still in what is essentially a high school.

Well really hope Malou can play for Isu is year cause he wasn't invited to nba combine from list I saw...would be highly unusual for any player here in US to get drafted not being invited to combine..

He did this so he can play in the nba d league if Isu falls through

He never thought he had a chance to get drafted. Well, I shouldn't say "never" but it wasn't why he made himself eligible.

So I gather that Malou has to declare for the draft to be eligible for the D league. I don't quite know how to ask this, but can he withdraw his name before the draft and still be eligible for the D league? Or if he leaves his name in, is he ineligible for college? Basically, is there a decision he needs to make by the end of the month?

He needs to withdraw his name around May 25th or something like that to be eligible for college. Right now he is eligible for the d league because his name is in the draft. If they declare him ineligible for college then he goes to the d. If they grant him he'll withdraw and go to college.

If they don't allowed him into college and he wasn't registered for the d league he'd be stuck in limbo for a year. Not a good place to be. Unless he goes to Europe for a year.

I think he is asking if the NCAA is the NCAA and doesn't have a decision before May 25

A week ago at this time (even before the draft stuff) I would have been like 60/40 that Malou would make it to ISU. There were always major questions. Today, I'd say I'm more like 20/80. Gonna need a hail mary based off of what I've heard recently.

It's a shame that he got swindled by a con man.

Assuming you are right, who would start 5? I know Blum had an opinion on twitter recently. Hard to process, but not sure of many options.

Maybe Bowie?

Well that ******* sucks. Although it kind of seemed too good to be true the whole time.

What happened? Article coming?

Even if he gets his AA degree? Man I hate the NCAA

We need Lard to make it to campus and be able to contribute right away. The La Tech transfer is a must as well. It's going to be frustrating watching us struggle to rebound for another season.
