***TCU vs ISU***

I just don't think Jadda is Big 12 point guard material.
You say this knowing that when she is not on the court, she has one foot in a boot. Comments like this are not helpful. She is not the only player that is not making shots. She did not have a good game tonight, but other than Carleton, who did?

Bad enough watching this without having to listen to Rich in total whining little kid mode. He's usually a decent play-by-play guy but in some games he just gets into his refs are ******* us and missing all of the calls.

It did seem to be inconsistent with the calls but it's not the reason we lost. I'm just hoping we can win enough games to qualify for the WNIT.

I think the last time we went NIT was a double header at Hilton with both the men and women playing.

Remember cause the friend I took ******* about the seats even though I was paying for them.

Long game to watch we shot poorly and couldn't turn the corner on offense, stand around and watch. Hopefully they can keep working on things and keep improving. This team was going to be young this year and when Bre left it just made things harder. I didn't realize Jadda was booted other than for games, and Maddie has had her share of injuries thru the years. Long as they keep trying I guess I'm not going to complain to much.

I thought we were fairly competitive in the 1st qtr even though we were shooting poorly. Things just kept getting away thought they had a chance when the cut it to 5-6 but TCU went on a run to put it away.

That was a darn fun day of BB 12,000+ for both games if I remember right.l

Well, it would help if we ran more motion. You know, take advantage of Buckley's passing abilities by making the opposition chase her teammates around? Get lost in interior screens or cause defensive confusion, then popping open? Just because she maybe can't break someone down off the dribble doesn't mean she can't run point. Even her MC high school team ran more motion offense than we do...

I would agree here.

Please, you all had no problem attacking Moody relentlessly when she made mistakes, and she often played hobbled too.

I know we are young and I know there are injuries then a total surprise defection. BF has dealt with these types of thing before but usually keeps a competitive team on the court. He usually has use the pre-season to figure out his his team and the player's roles. In the Big 12 they then compete. Maybe not with Baylor, but from #5 up. This one looks like it will be playing the first day of the conference tourney right now.

I just think that when she is playing the one (PG), she has a VERY difficult time getting past the "pass first" mentality. Then it's gotten worse with the staff emphasizing to her that she has to shoot more. And I imagine that it was amped up even more last night, when they knew that Seanna would less than 100%.

It was very apparent to me that she was feeling pressure to shoot/score, and consequently forced some things badly. Geez, they've even been posting her up the last few games.

It was actually a true double-header and how they count this game as WBB's first Hilton sell-out. Personally, I don't count it (like they care what I think, but still...) because the building was barely more than half full by the end of the women's game that day. I still say the NCAA 1st round game against St. Francis in 2000 was the highest attended women's game at just over 13,600. I count that one because it was tickets sold for a women's basketball game ONLY. I do miss the era when you'd have a legit 11-13,000 in Hilton for a regular season women's game (and when we only -rarely- lost in Hilton to the best teams, not some of the worst).

Was listening to Rich brag up the crowd last night (as he always does) as awesome for a weekday game. It looked like an okay crowd on TV, better then what you see on TV for Big 10 games and such but still not like what we used to get. At least it was in the thousands and not the low hundreds like the Gopher/Illiniois game at the Illini a couple weeks back. Wish there had been some students at the game.

I find the ISU women's games extremely difficult to watch. It seems like they spread the floor like the men, but don't have the ball handlers to break anyone down. There is a lot of dribbling, a screen and roll, and a rushed shot to beat the shot clock...and a lot of turnovers. Bill missed his opportunity a decade ago to take this program to another level, and now we're just stuck at very average!

There is just something off with this team and coaching staff this year. They just seem to be out of sync most of the time on offense.

Last night there was a breakaway - We have a 3 on 1 with Jadda in the middle. Kidd and Bridget on the wings. Instead of attacking the basket - Bridget and Kidd flared to the corners for threes leaving Jadda in a one on one. She took a pull up jump shot and missed. Who does not attack on a 3 on 1 break? We do apparently... Just terrible basketball out of us right now.

I don't understand this offense at all. Yeah, they spread the floor sort of like the men do, but to me that is where the similarity ends. The men drive to the bucket, and try to kick it out to an OPEN shooter or finish the drive and maybe get the bucket and get fouled. Other than Seanna, I haven't really seen any of the women's guards who can drive to the basket and finish.

I have no idea what this coaching staff is doing. They don't seem to be able to design an offense, or get this team to properly run an offense that gets players open shots. Of course, sometimes when this team gets open shots, they can't hit them anyway. They need more time in the gym....but that is needed on an individual basis...I'm not sure most of this team has that kind of drive.

There is talent on this team. No one can say that players like Jadda, Seanna, Brdiget and Mere are not talented, but this staff does not seem to know how to put them in a position to be successful.

What has BF really accomplished the last five years or so, even with talented players? Recruiting seems to have improved (I"m guessing largely because of Billy) but what good does that do if you can't hang on to the recruits, or develop them? I wonder sometimes if BF is really interested in this much any more.

I see one of the problems is a lack of a leader among our three upper class starters. We are not getting the type of play we should from them. We had 12 to's and 9 were by them. Our offense seems to be Jadda or Seanna dribble, dribble, dribble till we have a couple seconds left then throw up a shot. Right now the main points from Jadda are coming from the free throw line. Last night BF said Seanna was at about 75% but she had a terrible night scoring 1-11 FG, 0-5 3FG 1-2 FT had see scored her average we win the game. We got 16 points from our posts which is not bad but we are not getting the defense from them we need. I feel we will struggle as long as our upper class starters play the way they did last night. A few people around me are saying they are not sure how many more games they want to come to. For me I have only missed 4 home games in 20 years and will be there with the team to the end and will cheer for them looking for more wins.

I'm with you. Teams have down years. In Fennelly's tenure at ISU there has only been one losing season. ONE. Think on that one a bit. People complain about what he's done over the last five years...how about consistently finishing in the top part of the conference?
14-15 Tied for 3rd
13-14 5th
12-13 2nd
11-12 4th
10-11 5th
Never...during that period did they have a losing record in conference play.

But also not exactly tearing it up the last five years. We are sitting at 42-38 over the last five years counting this season so far. 9-9 three of those years and need to rally to get to that this year.

We aren't as good as our fan base thinks and we are going to need to beat out TCU to even get the coaches preseason pick level of 6th place.

I guess your comments carry some interesting weight in that our expectations have risen greatly under Fennelly. What was once a powderpuff team is now one that we expect to highly compete in one of the typically toughest conferences in the country. On the national scene any team that is within one game of .500 is considered worthy of a tournament bid and yet we are now to the point that it's not good enough any more. I suppose that is a good problem to have and I support wanting to aim higher.
