Not sure if this has been asked or not in other threads but the past 2 weeks I have been saying just like most of us to put in Lanning. I have heard numerous times from people that say they have heard he is turrible! Said that his route reading isn't that good, and that if we don't find a JUCO QB we are major trouble for next year (worse than what we already are) I know this would be a great time for him to get experience but from the sounds of it don't expect us to be any better with him.

Anyone here of this?

Re: How bad is Lanning?

People realize we still have Grant right? I mean the guy won multiple big 12 games two years ago and will be a senior next year. I think the real question is why is Grant not getting any playing time if Lanning can't seem to complete a pass?

Re: How bad is Lanning?

Maybe we can have open competition throwing the football against a barnwall for the three.

Re: How bad is Lanning?

The fact is, no one has any idea whether Lanning is worth his weight or not. He hasn't seen the field enough to be closely evaluated.

As for Rohach, I'll be shocked if he doesn't transfer out after this season to somewhere that will actually play him his senior season. Unless the scholarship education from ISU is more important to him than than football.

Because the coaching staff has completely ****ed with Grant's head.

Why? Sam's been great. He played like **** Saturday, but other than that he's been spot on, a very vocal leader. :|

He beat out Rohach so can't be turrible. He is a good runner as he has already demonstrated, my guess is he has great natural talent and still working on the nuances of the game (route reading etc.).

Re: How bad is Lanning?

Lanning looked much more accurate than SR against Texas Tech, and his arm looked stronger. Made a great throw on a corner route that SR rarely makes. He also hit the WRs in stride on slants and screens, like any D1 QB should.

Re: How bad is Lanning?

According to Trey Scott... From what I found out on Twitter Saturday night. Lanning doesn't see the field because he doesn't know how to audible, doesn't know any of the pre-snap adjustments, and doesn't understand the play book.

Mostly things that come with getting more playing time as I took it. To others it was a way of saying he's terrible and shouldn't see the field over Sam even if the game is over and it's garbage time.

Re: How bad is Lanning?

Can we get some clean-up on this thread title?

Re: How bad is Lanning?

Like I said when I started the thread, this was hearsay and didn't know if anyone else had heard this. I agree that we have Rohach but obviously I was curious since Joel is the #2 QB. Grant didn't impress me either last year. I feel there is a reason why every time Joel comes in we always run it rather than letting him throw. Also he was playing against the scrubs when he made good passes, should have been picked off if the defender didn't drop it.

Re: How bad is Lanning?

Sam must be the greatest practice QB ever, because a senior who consistently throws behind slants, out of bounds go routes, low and outside bubble screens and ****-poor decision making, would have been benched long ago.

.

Never thought that reading the field was something Sam was good at either.....
