I like Self a lot more than Calipari. Having met Self while he was at Illinois, I really liked him, but he does seem to Jeckyl/Hyde his off court/on court personality. What I don't like about Self, is that he is $urrounded by KU alumni. That is a nasty cesspool to navigate and stay clean.

Some day, I hope Calipari gets caught. His smug xxx interview where he said his primary goal is for half of the NBA Allstar game rosters to by KY alum, just shows what a self-absorbed SOB he is.

I am in no way a fan of Self, but I have heard just the opposite about Self. I spoke with someone (not a KU fan, but a BB guy) who was at a gathering where Self was. He said that when Self came in the room he had a rare charisma that made you feel like Self was talking exclusively to you. He worked the room and when he spoke to someone he always remembered their name no matter how long ago or how infrequently they had met and he remembered personal details about every person.

Recruiting against that is always going to be tough.

I think you could say the same thing about 99% of the college basketball coaches. You rarely get to that level of coaching without being a great people person.

I've had other Iowa St fans ask me what kind of player he is, or who he is most like. I couldn't really come up with a good one because he's a bit unorthodox.

After thinking about it, the best I could come up with is Myles Turner from Texas last season. Any other ideas?

I love the fact that someone mentioned Simpson had a heel turn. Since recruiting is close to being like WWE now. For the record. We would be Daniel Bryant in this situation and Kansas, kentucky. And UNC would be the triple H-Vince Mcmahons.

Michael Jordan?

Craig Brackins if I had to pick someone.

That's a decent start. I think he's a little more perimeter oriented than that, at least that's how it appears when he's dominating DSM Christian in front of 12 fans.

Never easy to compare a JUCO guy to a talented establish player, but for me Antawn Jamison comes to mind.
Jeff Green is maybe another one...

In 2008 Memphis, coached by Calipari was forced to vacate all 38 wins due to NCAA violations. In 1996 the Calipari coached UMASS team had their Final Four appearance stripped due to Marcus Camby accepting $40,000 paid by an agent because Camby's brother needed groceries - Calipari claims no knowledge of said incident. Interestingly, Kentucky hired Calipari 4 days after the 2008 season ended.

Aww man. What if he refuses to wolf out when we get to the championship game?
Not likely but Chubby and the rest of the team should rally around him.

Note: While researching the name of another player on Teen Wolf's team I discovered that the guy who played Chubby also yelled, "It's Enrico Pallazzo" and also, also stole PeeWee Herman's bike.

Where is that guy now? Could be a good guest for the FAWcast. Way cooler than the Batch.

His name in PW was FRANCIS!
