Yeah. Shows how big of egos these guys have and the level of pettiness they are showing by continuing to call Thibs out. Totally not neccessary which is why Van Gundy called out the organization multiple times on air during the season. Then they confronted Van Gundy and tried to bully him into being quite.Interesting the amount of people turning on Fred. I am glad I got to see his teams in person the last 4 years.

Yup. Especially given the timing...it reeks of a sportswriter sitting on information and releasing it at an opportune time, when "Fred Hoiberg" google searches will likely be at their highest mark ever. Even if the "reports" are speculative at best, there's a lot of temptation for Hines to publish his piece and get those clicks!
What if this is some elaborate troll job on the Bulls by Fred? Lead them to think your going to be their coach only to back out at the last moment.
Even from that view it's not 'sky falling' if we need a new coach.

Floyd leaving didn't hurt the team, because LE kept the key piece and added possibly an even better one. Had it not been for his personal issues... Fred is one of the greatest Cyclones of all time, but ISU basketball is much bigger than Fred Hoiberg and he'd be the first one to say that.
He apparently told Matt he would be back, and that was in passing according to Thomas....so who knows how indepth that comment was....and telling a 5 star recruit that you would be her for sure and than not would be crippling to ISU, and Fred knew that, so at least he was honest. Still sucks for us and truly disappointed in how all of this has gone down over last 2 months

If we weren't all-in on Diallo from day one right till the end it never would have got that far. It's more likely that RV and Diallo saying no played a factor in Fred deciding to take on a new challenge. Especially RV, you can't blame a player for picking Self and KU.
Maybe Thomas is ****** at Hoiberg for not playing him so he said this stuff so as to foment more hate towards fred

But, hey, the court storming issue is decided and announced. Not that it matters right now.
And maybe Diallo asked in the question in the context of Fred's health? "I can't guarantee that the surgery will be a success or that I'll be fully recovered to coach next year" is both plausible and could be interpreted as "I can't 100% commit to being your coach in 2015-16".
