Random thoughts III

I took the 4.5 year plan, but mostly because journalism is dumb and has dumb rules. Though it seems I'm not the only one, as I think half of the regulars here are December grads.

By the way, guys. My 10 year is this year. I just had my high school 10 year it feels like! I should not be having my college 10 year already.

KC or Boxster, are the years supposed to moving this fast as I age?!

Had my 40th two years ago, was bored off my butt. Expensive venue ("discounted rooms" were over $300 a night), beverages were expensive ($10 for a half glass of house White Zin), food was free but very frou-frou, and tiny amounts on the buffet...which was virtually empty within the first half hour and never restocked. Told PapaLew never again!

Except now, a couple of the smarter ones in my class are suggesting a cruise for the 50th, or having it in Hawaii (most of the attendees are still in the PNW), so I may change my mind. If I can relax on a vacation, maybe bump into a few of the less annoying classmates, I'm okay with that. There is nothing more annoying than being cooped up with a bunch of slobbery drunk 58-year-olds, with the music cranked so loud conversation is impossible. It's embarrassing.

Hey! I'm there! If you guys do it, let me know! I'll buy you and PapaLew a drink!

As someone that's worn a tie to work since the age of 17, it feels very weird wearing jeans to work.

Also, BU you'd be proud, I'm breaking down and buying Starbucks today.

That's eight years away, Pantsy! Hawaii is on our bucket list. It's one of the 7 states left that I haven't been to - the rest are all in New England. We've made a commitment to follow MBB over there if they play in another tournament...AND if they give enough advance warning. Last time, they didn't announce until March, and all of the available vacation slots at Christmas time are long gone by the end of January. PapaLew has seniority, but he has to put in his requests for the year in January in order to get that seniority. Makes it tough to plan, sometimes.

We'll hold you to that drink, if & when we get there. Given enough fawning, I might even be convinced to come over & bake you a pie. ;)

Doesn't sound too promising for the series. How were their ratings?

Low but not bad. But they have been declining since they moved the show to Tuesdays 10/9c in 2013. Used to be 9/8c on Thursdays. Most don't watch live. I rarely do. I'm guessing the 10pm time in the Eastern Time Zone was a big factor. That's late for a TV show for a lot of people probably.

Plus it's more serialized than procedural, so it's difficult for one to just jump right in a random episode and get the gist of the show. It's probably too smart of a show for some people also.

I remember my first old moment was at the rehearsal for BIL/SIL wedding. We were 24 at the time, and were talking to the ringbearer. The realization when he said he just turned six was "He was born the year we graduated from HS."

Said ringbearer is getting married later this summer.

So yes, pants, time will fly like you wouldn't believe.

Slightly related, but random, apparently they are cancelling CSI.

But they are currently running CSI: Cyber which is not terribly good. Why kill off the Camaro of the franchise and keep the Cruz?

Fuel efficiency....cheaper to operate. Shows are work vehicles to the networks, not pleasure machines.

yep, I think it's "too smart" even though I love the storylines way more than procedural. I never watch it live either.

KC, they made it seem like she was left alive by Samaritan but possibly brainwashed in some way. We saw a brief glimpse of her in one of the last episodes. I think her real-life pregnancy threw things off and they'll go back into her storyline next season.

Yeah...I'm completely underwhelmed by CSI Cyber.

Everything is too effing convenient and they have a perfect counter-program for everything thrown at them.

I watch it because it's kind of interesting and I liked CSI, but I won't be upset if they cancel it.

I love Criminal Minds though. They are going to have a spin off of that next year I think. It should be good. It has the guy who played Noah from Walking Dead on it!

I was wondering why they wrote her out of so much! Thanks!

I'll tentatively mark it on my calendar.

I think I've been to or through like, 27 or 29 states? My goal is to visit the countries of my ancestry though, so like England, Germany, Norway, and France are really the big ones (I'm a mutt).

Also, my drinks offer goes out to anyone coming out here that wants to take me up on it. HipHop, I think you're honeymooning out here aren't you? Don't know if you'd want to on your honeymoon, but if so, just let me know.

I hate that. I liked the show Raising Hope on Fox. Didn't get great ratings, bit good enough. Third season Fox drops it into a Friday slot, which is a death sentence for a sitcom. Sure enough, it gets cancelled that season.
