Road trips were some of my greatest college and post-college-pre-kid memories. As long as people aren't afraid to be spontaneous (road trips should not be over-planned), everyone should go on at least one kick-*** road trip in their life.
I love road trips! I can also drive long distances without any issue, as long as I have some good music or entertaining conversation.

If we're bringing KC, we're gonna need something more like this:

And things may get awkward if my Foxhound is terrorizing her cats.

Plus Emily gif time!

I'm driving through Ames on Friday on my way to Omaha. I'm torn between stopping for lunch at Hickory Park or West Street Deli, assuming West Street still exists.

I was over in that area yesterday, and there is a LOT of construction going on - road and a couple of buildings. If you're itching for West St, I'd call first to see if they're open. :)

So it sounds like an almost definitive that I'm getting my dog not this weekend but the next. When that happens, it'll probably be the closest I'll know to feeling like CG when she's sees any rando baby.

Is your Oahu one in Honolulu? I know you were just talking about getting whatever there since you were only going to be a couple of days and how you weren't even going to rent a car and just use shuttle. Depending on where you're at, I could probably give you guys some tips on good places to eat within walking distance.

Yep, in Honolulu. Staying at The Outrigger Waikiki for a few nights before we head over to Maui.

Your foxhound has not MET MY cats. :)

Actually - we have the butt bus that we do "butts on a bus" excursions in with several couples in our circle of friends & general stage of life. It's a 1970s era Winnebago (Chief or Chieftain, I think). The old girl does pretty well for us, and now that we have Bambi that we can tow behind, we plan on using her on more distance trips. The drawback before was that once you got set up at a campsite, you were stuck there. It was Bambi, or a pair of mopeds. And I look damned silly on a moped.

Speaking of dogs.

For those of you I'm not friends with on facebook, I'd like to show you what one of my dogs did last night.

We gave them the empty peanut butter jar to clean out and Oliver got a little too serious about getting those last licks.

He was still licking the bottom when he clanked into the bed and I noticed him looking up at me. I had to pull really hard to get it off him. My big dog and the really little dog didn't have any problems. Just Ollie.

Very jelly.

I still remember everything about our Maui honeymoon. 15 years ago next week!

Going to bed at 8 PM and waking up at 4-5 took a little getting used to. To this day, I have no idea if we missed out on any night-life in Maui.

I really need to get back there.

So does everyone, KC, so does everyone.
