MLB: 2015 Minnesota Twins thread

They've actually been pretty good since the 1-6 start. Not sure if I should bother paying attention to them again, but thinking about it....

Hitting has come around which has been huge. They are 10th out of 30 in batting average. You take our their games against Detroit, they are 12-7.

This is what I was hoping for. I wasn't expecting to compete for a playoff spot this year, but be competitive is what I was hoping for. Hover around .500 for most of the season, show their a team on the rise, and don't embarrass themselves when playing teams like the Tigers and Royals.

Hughes is 0-4 and just gave up a first inning grand slam. Last year was a fluke.

Tonight notwithstanding, the Twins have scored 0, 2, 2, and 0 runs in those four losses.

Hughes has been fine. Down from last year, but fine. Also had better numbers coming into tonight than last year through 5 starts.

Needs to start getting the HR allowed under control though.

Some singles, a couple doubles and this offense has tied tonight's game at 4-4 "just like that."

Let's see if that'll settle Hughes down now that he as much run support in one inning as he had in his four losses.

Good news: Twins now tied for 4th best record in the AL.
Bad news: 2 of the teams above them are in their division.
Good news: Twins have won five in a row for the first time in 2 years.
Bad news: I have to eat crow after claiming the season was lost.

I think that might be all of us. Just serve it family style. Like we're at the Amanas or something.

Of course, the Twins were 2 games over .500 on May 22 last year, and within 2 games of .500 as late as June 23...

In other news, Byron Buxton hit a walk off homer last night, and on Sunday hit his fourth triple in four games.

In the 10 games now since Mientkiewicz sat him for back to back nights for a break he's hit .415/.479/.805.

Yes, that is a 1.284 OPS. 2 doubles, 4 triples and 2 homers in those ten. 5SB, 0CS. 6:5 BB/K. Wonder when the call up to AAA will come.

forgot about him...can't wait to see him in the cities some day!

I will gladly eat crow. They were horrible the first week of ball. I hope this isn't fool's gold. Seems to be enough hitting and decent starting pitching to keep them in games. Crowds have looked decent from what I've seen.

This offense though...

Escobar had a night! Twins are impressing me this year. I was pretty doom and gloom after the early stretch of losses, but if we can keep this up in June, we are looking like a respectable ball club again.

Seems like Detroit has had their number, otherwise have fared well.

Twins are 1/6 of the way through the season and tied for a wildcard spot. Long season, so not sure if I wanna get my hopes up yet.

What are your guys thoughts on Nolasco today? I watched him in the first game back after his DL stint against CWS and something still looks off to me. His defense saved him a couple runs and there were some balls absolutely scorched but right to defenders. I believe he'll likely be on a pitch count again today but only time will tell.

I'm not sold on him, so I hope the bats can spot him some runs.

Me neither. I would actually rather have Tommy Milone up and Nolasco gone or at least out of the rotation. Maybe that or Alex Meyers from AAA.

Last night was one of the funnest Twins games I've watched in years. Rosario's debut was magical. The offense is really clicking. Even down 4-0 in the first inning the other night, you just had a feeling this team was going to come back. This is a fun team to watch and that's something I haven't been able to say for several years!
