We are looking in the Des Moines area and eastern Iowa. What we really want is a rustic barn and we have found some that fit that criteria. However, our main problem is we live in the Twin Cities, and we can't simply just go look at places especially with my weird work schedule.

I'll talk to my brother. We dj'd a wedding last summer in a cool ol barn that was 20ish? minutes outside of Waukee. It had restrooms, a bar, and a cool waiting area with a trellis and flower garden for pictures and the wedding party to hang out in if they wanted.
