I'm thinking 2011 was the last year he was allowed to hold events at the old barn...a quick search says the new one was listed as 'new' in April, 2012, and there's a Press-Citizen editorial addressing his request to continue operating in 2012 at the old site.
Interesting. Too bad that was a real nice place. I did find it kind of odd that there was no road or hard surfaced parking on the property.
The new site resolves those issues, and the large barn is bigger. Where the old one was a round barn, the new one is a 'double round' barn...like you cut the old one in half and stretched it, plus there's another more 'normal' style timber frame barn, plus paved/lighted parking and it's right on highway 1.
ugh. not a good way to start the morning.
Mafia? Or something else?
oof, I wish it were mafia. Found out more about the co-worker's kid and then found out another young co-worker who I had recently started working with (email only, we aren't in the same location) died over the weekend. Basically the same age as me and I've worked a bit with one of her relatives who works here as well. Just really sad for her family.
South of the res?
I suppose I could look it up...

What's up with all the sweatshirts on facebook that have phrases on them?
Like a sweatshirt with dumb things like "I lift weights because punching people is frowned upon" or "turning 29...again" or "This is what a sexy CNA looks like."
Has anyone else seen these sweatshirt ads all the time now?
you talk? **** i've been married 6 years and there's nothing left to talk about.
Another topic change...y'all are gonna be shocked to hear that 00clone voluntarily...no, not just voluntarily, I actually suggested that on our morning with no kids, the Mrs. and I skip the sessytimes and just....
talk....
I know, right? 00 voluntarily skipping that to talk? <shudder> But, January was pretty bumpy for us/me, with illnesses and other things (well, with CG's discussion earlier, our troubles seem small), so I suggested that we just sit and talk and connect that way.
Was actually really good. (Mrs. is off at her women's book group now, so I'm not ignoring her by being on here)
That's not just a guy thing.I was still bummed this morning that we lost in dodgeball last night, so believe me, I got my own little wake up call there.
we seem to have our best talks when I want to go to sleep. No, I mean like actually sleep. If it's 8pm and I ask DH how his day was, we'll talk for a minute and then be back to our distractions. If I ask him 11:15 in bed, he'll tell me about his review happening the next day, how he needs to get more leadership experience for a promotion and his manager wants him to pick a team to join but one is more established and certain, the other is for a new project with more opportunities/uncertainty and in my head I'm thinking why didn't you mention this earlier when I asked about your day?!
That's not just a guy thing.
I'll get a more in-depth answer from the fiancee later the evening when I ask about anything than if I asked the same thing earlier.
That does make sense.I think part of it is not feeling on the spot about it. I've read that guys especially don't like face-to-face discussions that are structured, if that makes sense. So me telling DH "we need to sit down and talk" and then sitting across from him doesn't feel as natural or comfortable as something like lying in bed or on a car drive. I can't remember where I read it but it said having bringing up things you need to talk about in the car or bed feels very non-threatening. Probably fewer distractions too.
