Walking Dead

I understand this much. My point is in traditional zombie entertainment the zombie infection is passed along by bites and scratches, and that's how more zombies are created. If that's what happened in this show I wouldn't care so much. However, in this show everyone is already infected with the virus that turns you into a zombie when you die, but instead of it being an active virus that kills the host, it lies dormant in the host until it dies, then it activates and turns the host into a zombie. Because it's so different than every other zombie pic out there, that's why I'm curious as to how the whole world got infected with the virus. I can understand why people don't want to know or want to find out later, because it's bound to be "that's nice" at best and disappointing at worst, but I'm the kind of guy that wants to know how these minor details work so I can say in my mind "that's nice."

Well, it is based on a comic and not some book that maybe delved into the detail you are looking for. It is a violent post-apocalypse soap opera and not sci fi. If I am going to take time to read something along these lines I think the virus scenarios that turn people crazed but not dead are better because it doesn't take the the same level of disbelief suspension.

I like the concept in The Remaining series by D.J. Molles. The walkers are runners and they are not dead just reduced to hyena like packs. Oh, and they are reproducing which adds a little wrinkle. Bad news is that the author was self-publishing and than signed with a publisher which means the final book five has been delayed and delayed and delayed. Just looked today and he is saying the concluding book five will not conclude and there will be a book six probably a couple years from now as he tries to milk this with his new publisher.

I came here to comment that that episode was really boring and that I didn't like it but it looks like a lot of you have already read my mind.

Shots to the head?
That, or killed before infected with the virus. People were probably not infected instantaneously during the early days, so some would have died before becoming infected. That's probably the reason why in a lot of the cars there were dead bodies which did not revive.

To me it feels like they're trying to turn Beth into a badass instead of the pushover/caretaker she's been during the series so far. And she definitely had some badass moments in this episode, and those moments were pretty awesome, even if they were out of character for Beth. The problem is the episode itself was kind of meh and was filled with far too many unlikable characters. Another problem is as much as we want to like Beth and see her become badass, they centered an episode around a character that has always been a supporting character at best. While it's okay to promote supporting characters, the story itself wasn't great.

I disagree with the complaint about the episode being boring. While not action-packed, I think the slower pace helped to flesh out some of these new characters. I found the doctor to be the most interesting character of all. I also feel like Noah could potentially play a bigger role later on in the series. This was nothing like the torture we had to endure at the farm, where no new characters were introduced for long stretches.

I thought the episode was pretty good. Yes, it was a little slower than some other ones, but that's not always a bad thing in my mind. The scene with the new zombie gal (Joan?) and that creepy cop was fantastic. Did Carol get herself picked up on purpose or is she really hurt?

A team of arguably the baddest two people in TWD (Daryl and Carol) and you think Carol would've gotten hurt? No way. It must have been on purpose.

I guess I'm weird cause I liked the episode. Maybe it was just because no political commercials on AMC. All of the characters have been changing due to their circumstances, why not Beth? Herschel certainly changed over time. I guess I just view each of these groups as different variations of how far will people go to survive. On Talking Dead they asked the actress which would be worse for Beth, the hospital or going to Terminus. Seemed easy to me, but she didn't think so, at least her family was at Terminus. They also brought up the point that has been bugging me, how insistent Maggie was about finding Glen and how she seems to have no interest in finding her sister.

IMO, I think the episode was boring because they are trying to introduce some new characters into the show. The Bob void plus possible others needs to be filled :)

Im kind of thinking somehow Carol came in contact with Noah. Noah told her what goes on in the hospital. She fakes an injury to get inside. Daryl runs back and finds the group and alerts them to what is going on. Noah is who is in the bushes with Daryl

Group goes and tries to get Beth back.

Could be... but Noah knew what to do to leave that place..... He didn't share that information with Beth ... he limped right on by the walkers to get out of the fenced area, and away from the 'cops'. I saw that he used Beth as bait for the 'cops'.

The episode was good, it just feels like a little bit of a letdown after the huge events of the previous 3 this season. But you can't go balls to the walls all the time. I think it was far superior to much of Season 2 and 3 - because the writing on this show has really improved.

Weren't we all freaking out when Darabont was replaced on the show? Seems like a good move in hindsight.

Maggie and Beth never seemed very close to me. Maggie was the wild child, Beth was Daddy's little girl. Maggie is intensely focused on Glenn; I think the reason she didn't stay at the church with Rick is because Glenn promised to go with Abraham, and she flat out will not leave him again. She's trusting that Carol & Daryl will find Beth, and Rick will help them all catch up.

The DirecTV vs AMC commercials made up for the lack of political commercials.

Her name never even came up with Maggie and no one had any idea where Carrol and Daryl were
