I understand this much. My point is in traditional zombie entertainment the zombie infection is passed along by bites and scratches, and that's how more zombies are created. If that's what happened in this show I wouldn't care so much. However, in this show everyone is already infected with the virus that turns you into a zombie when you die, but instead of it being an active virus that kills the host, it lies dormant in the host until it dies, then it activates and turns the host into a zombie. Because it's so different than every other zombie pic out there, that's why I'm curious as to how the whole world got infected with the virus. I can understand why people don't want to know or want to find out later, because it's bound to be "that's nice" at best and disappointing at worst, but I'm the kind of guy that wants to know how these minor details work so I can say in my mind "that's nice."
Well, it is based on a comic and not some book that maybe delved into the detail you are looking for. It is a violent post-apocalypse soap opera and not sci fi. If I am going to take time to read something along these lines I think the virus scenarios that turn people crazed but not dead are better because it doesn't take the the same level of disbelief suspension.
I like the concept in The Remaining series by D.J. Molles. The walkers are runners and they are not dead just reduced to hyena like packs. Oh, and they are reproducing which adds a little wrinkle. Bad news is that the author was self-publishing and than signed with a publisher which means the final book five has been delayed and delayed and delayed. Just looked today and he is saying the concluding book five will not conclude and there will be a book six probably a couple years from now as he tries to milk this with his new publisher.
