Typical response, but it's pretty hard for me to argue that iowa state has a "better" athletic department than north carolina state, princeton, or even iowa when we only offer 16 sports.

Seriously, how pathetic are Iowa fans? When I got to work on Monday, there was a coven of hawks huddled around one guy's phone watching the Pollard video, then there was at least a 10 minute discussion about it, where a few specific non-alum fans were just blustering and hamming it up with all sorts of jokes. If the reverse situation was true, while I'm sure there'd be all sorts of hilarious threads about it here...my IRL response would be "hah, funny" and then I'd be on with my life, but it seems Iowa fans are just obsessed with anything Iowa State. Even here, in their backyard. Yet, we're the little brother...yup, uh-huh....

So you have Wisconsin AND Iowa season football tickets and you stated "ive developed an affinity for iowa state over time, although i question my logic when i see the true idiocy of the fanbase any time iowa is mentioned." and you say "we" in referring to ISU. Hmmmm
It is easier to excel at the Directors Cup when you have more sports because they don't penalize you for poor performance in a sport only reward you for good performances in your most successful sports. So to only have 16 and be fairing so well indicates that your program is doing well in just about all of the sports you field. If they assigned a point value for each sport and then divided it by the number of sports you fielded a lot of those programs with a whole bunch of sports would fare even less well.
