Totally agree. Meyers was playing inside most of the game and his motor never slowed down. Underweight but playing quicker with spins and crosses a slower tackle couldn't pull off. Even when he wasn't in on the tackle he was in on the play. Unless the Iowa line sucks worse than we think Meyers play inside gives hope for that position.
Without Bundrage we lost a dimension to complement West. I see a lot of possession receivers (without great hands). IMO it is clear that Nealy and AW are two of our top playmakers, and schematically they can give the offense an added dimension.
I think something lost in this weeks game is that MM opened things up much more against K State than Iowa. The gameplan against Iowa was pretty vanilla, that's great to see. Hawk fans won't like that but its true. The extra week to prepare could give MM time to create some exciting stuff.
Talked Cory M in class on Tuesday and he said he was pumped to see Scherff playing on Saturday. He also said that the ISU trainers asked the UofI trainers about Scherff's scope and they said it was as simple and basic scope possible for a knee which is why he was able to play right away so that that fwiw. I really like that Morrissey embraces the challenge though. He was ****** when he though Scherff wasn't playing. Dude can be a real game changer!
I have noticed this all season long. They are more than holding their own in this area. It's nice to see.
The block in the back by Scherff was just that. Morrissey made a perfect move, disengaged, and was moving to sidelines to make the play. Scherff was frustrated and thats why he did it. I would disagree that Scherff won the run battle, our line got up field and tore gaps all day. Iowa's rushing totals show that.
Our secondary is LOADED, if it stays healthy they will be top 5 in the coubtry after this year. Lbs will get there. All they need to do for now is fill and tackle well. I say man up all year on the outside. We will be a force next year.

It was outside the blocking zone which is roughly from tackle to tackle at the snap and 5 yards past the LOS. It is not legal side line to sideline anywhere on the field, even at the LOS.
I think most assume when they say LOS that they mean inside the tackle box. I don't know the play referenced, I just assumed it was someone not knowing the rules again like everyone complaining about the legal blocks on the back.
Clearly the refs in that game were not concerned with minor details, such as the locations of that pesky line of scrimmage or free blocking zone.
Fair enough. It was a run or screen to the sidelines. Knott pursued to the outside and Sherff pursued him out of the box and took him out from behind. It should have been a penalty and put them behind schedule. I think it was on Iowa's first drive of the 4th Q.

Ummm... I like the young talent too, but get back to me in four weeks. A few more interceptions would be nice.
IMHO, Waters pretty much singlehandedly won the game for KSU. That was not truye for NDSU. That was not true for us against Iowa.
