MLB: 2014 Chicago Cubs

.....and isn't Soler supposed to be better at the plate than Baez who isn't as good as Russell who isn't as good as Bryant?

Oh...yes....I'm getting Cubs Fever

I think Baez or Bryant might be 75 or 80 projected power hitters. Soler might have a better approach though.

Rough day for Javy. 1-5 with the golden sombrero. Someone teach this kid to lay off some pitches once in a while.

I was just coming here to post this. Definitely exciting, and ****, if enough of these guys pan out, we're going to be practically swimming in hitting talent with nowhere to put it in Chicago. There's a lot of potential trade bait to use to acquire a top-end starting pitcher down the road. Theo's built this team brilliantly, and it's definitely for the long haul, not just a 2-4 year window.

Baez just crushed a frisbee slider that was off the outside corner. Even though it was off the plate, he was still able to smoke it out into Waveland. Rizzo follows by hitting one basically off the top of the plate (was a pretty good pitch), on the first pitch, into the basket in the RF well.

So far in this game tonight, 1 through 4 is 7-7.

1. Coughlin is 2-2
2. Baez is 2-2
3. Rizzo is 1-1 (sac fly to go with the bomb)
4. Castro is 2-2

Cubs lead 4-0 in the 3rd.

Does anyone else kind of (just kind of) want them to lose a few more this year and get another good draft spot for next year and then next year Theo and the boys pounce? Am I getting too greedy with wanting more of these hitting prospects?

Thought about this and then thought better of it. Its really a win-win situation and when you think of it, they have already solidified an excellent pick. The Cubs haven't exactly drafted what others considered to be the best player on the board as of late anyway. At this point root for them to be the spoiler because they are doing it with some guys that for once will be there in the future.
