Honestly, I think the overwhelming majority of people are ok with that thread. I mean, it's the offseason man. And most people don't take Lakes seriously. It's fun messing with him. If the thread is still open in week 2, I get it, but I don't know why a few people are getting their panties in a bunch about it in June.

it is to help the refs distinguish who the goalie is, ie. who can use their hands
Yes. There are different rules for that player. Same thing for the libero in volleyball. In football they just give some players different numbers (offensive linemen wearing 50-79). This helps the referees when dealing with ineligible downfield, illegal touching, etc.

I've biked more this summer than ever. A few observations.
50% of cars do not come to a complete stop at a stop sign. 25% barely slow down.
Most drivers don't check a bike trail for bikes and I never assume they are going to see me. Unless they wave me on, I slow down or stop.
I do stop at red lights, but will admit, if I have verified that there are no cars anywhere nearby, I won't usually stop at stop signs.
Those 2 dudes hanging out in the car are some of the creepiest guys I've ever seen. Swiss!
Dont worry I worked in bars for 3 years in college, always make sure I get everything into the trash can/toilet. Keep it clean "clean"
