Even though I agree with you, that's the first thing I saw about him that Fred will undoubtedly fix. Can you imagine that guy coming off a screen on a catch and release...? *Drool*
Also, really like his foot speed. His defense is good. Very excited. He puts 30 lbs on and we have a true monster on our hands. Can't wait to see what he's like as a person.
Today's Gazette had a good interview of Fred where he sheds more light on the Julo remarks and what he thinks of him. I hope he is right!:
"One of the guys I worked with in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the top European scouts in the world,†Hoiberg said. “I’ve remained very close to him and he hooked me onto (Tsalmpouris).
“We were very fortunate we got him when we did. A lot of really good schools were trying to get in there after he’d made the commitment and tried to talk him out of it. But he stayed true to it.â€
Hoiberg compared the Greek to his former ISU teammate, Julius Michalik, a 6-10 forward in the 1990s. He said Tsalmpouris “is good at facing the basket and shooting the ball. He’s left-handed just like Julo. He’s probably a little better rim-protector than Yulo was.
“He’s probably got a little way to go with skills, but he’s 7-1 and can shoot it. That’s a pretty good place to start.â€

The thing I am most impressed with in this big man is his ability to block shots while staying vertical. This is something that can be hard for a big man to learn. Most kids this age are trying to swat at the ball. I am aware that the videos are showing him against weak competition, but there are plenty of skills that will make for great building blocks.
Since there is no way this kid isn't a cult hero right off the bat, have we settled on a ridiculous nickname for this kid, or chants we can use to get him playing time during blow out games?

How about "Aristotle Hercules Galifianakis Bos Herodotus" A little complicated, maybe, but it ties in all the great Greeks from history.
It's a shame we're a year too late to claim "Greek Freak". Does "Mt. Olympus" work for a 7-footer?
Tsalbo seems to be an actual nickname. Plus it sounds like a greek rambo, so I like it.

Where did that come from? I've never seen someone use the infinitive form of a Greek verb in a definition entry like it's the base form. That's nerd interesting.
