Harris Leaving WVU

This league has three potential top 15 teams in Texas, Kansas, and yours truly, Iowa State. Oklahoma State and Baylor won't suck, Tech is finally going to be somewhat relevant. The only teams that will suck in the league next year are WVU, KSU, and TCU. And the former two won't suck THAT much.

Is Oklahoma not going to be in the conference next season?

Umm, KSU is not going to suck next year. If anything, they will be better.

I hate when they use this as an excuse. Morgantown is 5.5 hours from Indy. Really, closer to home? I think he knows Staten is leaving and he doesn't want to be on a ***** team next year so he's going to transfer to someone who can compete. Indiana, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincy are all within 2.5 hours, give 15 minutes for a pee break.
5.5 hour drives may not seem like much to you but that's debilitating to a college kid that may or may not even have a car, let alone the time and money to travel that much. A 5.5 hour trip means you really need three days to make the trip worth while. There aren't many 3 day holes in the calendar of a college basketball player. Odds are he ends up at Indiana, where Tom Crean is fighting for his job and has a scholly open with Vonleah leaving for the NBA.

Yep, no teams in the Big 12 will suck next year.If Nash returns for Ok St, they will still be okay. Forte, Nash, Murphy, Cobbins, Williams, perhaps Clark, and two or three top-100 recruits is a decent squad.
OSU has two Top 100 recruits right now and stand a good shot at landing Myles Turner if Embiid stays at Kansas.

You may have addressed this in another thread, but what odds do you give that Embiid will stay at KU? That guy showed flashes of incredible dominance this year - not looking forward to another year of him getting better in the Big XII.

I think it's better than 50/50 right now. Word around town is that he feels he isn't physically strong enough yet to be able to handle the rigors of the NBA season and that he worries he would put himself at risk of a long term injury if he wasn't prepared from Day One. That doesn't mean he won't make the decision to roll with it and try to get ready but we'll see. I am guardedly optimistic. With Myles Turner and KU basically waiting on his decision, I'd be surprised if he waited until the NBA deadline to announce his intentions. Selden has already come out and said he'll be back, so he knows who else will be on the team. Fingers and toes crossed for KU fans. If he does decide to leave, I think Turner will go to KU and team with Alexander to be a potent platoon, so by no means do I feel that Kansas is in trouble if he leaves. I'd just love to get the chance to watch his continued development.

If I'm Embiid and a LOCK for a top 2 pick, no way in hell I'm staying in college to try and get stronger. Thats millions of dollars he's giving up in one year just to lift weights.

As a top 2 pick, it's not like he's going to be a program that's going to be a contender right away. I doubt wherever he goes they will expect him to battle with the big boys the first year or two.

It's not giving anything up; just deferring it a year. And BECAUSE he is going to a crappy team he will likley be the starter and will be battling the big boys right away. You don't draft a 7 footer #2 overall and put him on the bench.
