Pollard On Student Section


And? Like I said a lot of students could have gone to the game. 9 hour window is a pretty big window huh?

Edit - they used to do it for 24. Still if u are there as team I would tell em I was standing at the game and be back after. Gurantee they wouldn't care.

I didn't read the entire thread, but why would they schedule a dance-a-thon on the same day as a Saturday home game? There is plenty of Saturday's when the teams is on the road, why don't they do it then?

What 9 hour window? It's from 9am to Midnight. And I didn't say it was the reason, I just said you were wrong.

I was less concerned about the lack of students and more concerned about the lack of student enthusiasm (though I'm always concerned about student attendance). Even missing that chunk up top, the remaining students can usually compensate. Sitting on the side opposite the band, probably like 5-10% of the students were actually cheering. Maybe those missing the game for Dance Marathon are the type that get into the game, and maybe the shorter wait time for the game allowed the too-cool-for-school crowd to sit down closer, but it was a morgue in there more often than not.

Oh well.. Just keep winning.

The problem is that it is cool to go to the games. Students show up who couldn't care less just to say they were there. Today, I was in the second row and sat by two guys who must have thought it was more fun to talk about there classes this semester.

Their classes. They're probably doing better in them than you.

I mean.. Im never going to be upset that it's cool to go to games, that's what we should all want. Just gotta find a way to keep the more fair weather crowd into it.

What? It says the opposite. He is forced to oversell because it is needed to have even a half-full student section. JP could make more money selling more expensive tickets to adults who are also more likely to show up to the games.

Which has to be the whole point. JP has passed up a load of money to let students have these seats. If they don't want them, he can easily sell them to someone who does.
 
I think something that is being missed is that JP might be getting a certain amount of heat from the public who want to buy tickets but can't. They call the ticket office, are told the game is sold out, then they watch it on tv and see a few hundred empty seats.

So, yes it is partly that those seats could have been sold for extra revenue, but it is also just the fact of having to explain to the public why there are lots of empty seats that they can't buy. I'm just speculating here that some of those John Q. Public fans are probably not too nice with their questioning.

Did you fail to read any of the previous comments in the thread? The dance marathon could have had several students there. I just fail to see that students are that much of a fair weather fans if we are still ranked. There had to be several reasons for this, as it would be hard to believe that 2100 didn't show up...sucks, but hey we got the W.

Says nothing about getting donations as a team and as long as you have representatives from a team there for 24 (er uh 15) you didn't complete it.
