#21 in AP Poll - CYCLONES

If we can get through the week with a W. Some opportunities to move up if these guys lose:

#10 VCU vs Florida State
#7 OSU vs #11 Memphis
#13 Gonzaga vs Washington State

Pre-season polls are clearly silly. But when you look at the schedule it will have us beating a #7 team yesterday regardless of where Michigan goes from here, which is nice. Not sure where, but Michigan will stay a top-25 team all year.

None of those games will affect our ranking. VCU, OSU, and Mem are ranked too high and Gonzaga will not be losing to WSU. They're terrible.

That's the cherry on top. If we didn't win yesterday, they'd be ranked. Lol.
They're not gonna be ranked anytime soon. Well, if they are, it will be briefly.

They're a lot less talented version of Michigan. Their guards are just awful. They have some guys who can run/dunk, but there's not a good ball handler or a good shooter on their entire roster.

I think we'll dispose of them quite easily by playing pressure-D and will expose them for what they are. A lower tier Big 10 team with a bunch of dorky looking tools.

They're already ranked in the Coaches' Poll. But this thread isn't about Iowa and some of our fans' obsession with them is getting truly embarrassing.

Really no reason to be so depressed...enjoy the win without censoring

Ha! Anyone who thinks that win was a fluke either wasn't watching or wasn't watching objectively.

We didn't shoot well at all, got out rebounded, and fought out way back from being down 3 possessions multiple time by playing good defense and taking care of the ball down the stretch. We only went 7 deep and Michigan went 9 deep. That win was not flukey at all

We shot 47.5% to their 42%. If anyone didn't shoot well, it was clearly Michigan, especially down the stretch when they were ice cold. We shot a lot better than Michigan and we shot a lot more free throws at a better percentage, which is why we won.

A number of ISU shot misses were bunnies and uncontested looks. On the flip side, ISU did a great job of defensing Michigan's shot attempts.

The big stat to me was the Michigan turnovers. They led the nation last year (IIRC) in least amount of turnovers per game and were on pace to do the same this season (very early). Turned them over 12 or more times - which was fantastic. That's not in Michigan's DNA and for the Cyclones to force those was huge. Especially when ISU got very careless with the ball and turned it over 5 times in the first 3:30 of the 2nd half.

There are times when a lower ranked team steals a win or controls the game. I felt that within the first 10 minutes of the game, it was ISU's game to lose and the team continued controlling the game for almost all of it. I didn't expect a win yesterday and thought they'd have a shot if they played very well. Still surprised ISU won with an above average offensive night.
