Lolo is a fantastic role model and represnet this state very well
Rags like the NY Times hate Christian women, virgins, and anyone with standards
60m Hurdles is indoor T&F.Side note, I've never heard of 60m hurdles until right now. Is that in the Olympics?
60m Hurdles is indoor T&F.
She won three NCAA titles and is 11 All-American while at LSU.
She won indoor US national titles in 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the 60 m hurdles.
Won gold medals at the World Indoor Championship in 2008 and 2010.
She is the American record holder in the 60m hurdles.
She is a 2 time Olympic qualifier and was the world leader and favorite in 2008.
Has struggled with injuries since.
"never having really done anything of consequence"
Does not apply here.
For what it is worth the author of the article is a man. I figured it was a woman also just from the tone, so I looked him up.
Four years ago she was the best hurdler on the planet and probably wins that race 7 times if they run it 10 times. She screws up, loses, handles it amazingly, gets hurt, fights her way back, and makes the olympic team which is a complete shocker. If Dawn Harper or Kellie Wells have a BETTER story than that, I'd love to hear it.
so being from East St. Louis, and avoiding gang life and drugs, and committing to a dream, and being dirt poor and having no money and having to borrow shoes from other athletes to compete in the Olympics isn't as good as story?
There are plenty of good stories about athletes, many if not all athletes have to overcome injuries and or defeat at some point.
The only reason anyone gives a rat's assss about Lolo is she is hot and poses for seductive pictures, and then says "i'm a virgin" I am not a hater by any means, but the reality is, men pay attention to her for this reason, not her story.

In this post you do a great job of impersonating one.
Yes, there are plenty of good stories about athletes, but her story isn't the only one that is being told during this olympics. And the media assumes (generally rightly so) that people are interested in repeat US olympic athletes and hearing the rest of their story.
I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I don't think she deserves this level of scorn.
Also, right or wrong, charisma comes into the equation. Part of the appeal of Lance Armstrong was his charisma. This year Bradley Wiggins had/is having a monumental year but his charisma or lack thereof on the podium is not endearing him to fans or the media. I'm sure this will improve for him if he stays on top, but it is an issue.
It's a pretty good story, I just don't think it's as good as a similar one that also includes failing in front of billions and a potential shot at redemption. People love that stuff. Lolo being good looking is a part of her appeal to the media, but I disagree with the assertion that the only reason people are interested is the way she looks.
Q: Who won the 100m hurdle hurdles in Barcelona (1992) when Gail Devers face planted?
A: Only Google knows.

Anna K isn't on the same planet as Lolo as far as how good she is at her respective sport.
I see no hate anywhere in my post. Lolo is popular not because of her story. If y'all can't except that, then it is high time I moved on. No where did I say I agree with the NY Times article.
