NBA: Playoff Time

Battier's outside shooting has been huge this series. He's fulfilling the role of knock down shooter that Miami thought they were getting with Mike Miller. When the Heat can space the floor with him and Bosh it becomes that much harder to stop LeBron and Wade.

Is Battier typically that good of an outside shot? It seems like he can't keep it up.

Yeah Battier will stop shooting lights outs, but if he is left open he has shown in the playoffs that he can knock it down.

That depends on how you mean "that good." He's shooting nearly 70% from 3. Nobody is that good. However, if OKC continues to guard him the way they have been, which is to say not at all, he's capable of shooting over 50% from 3. OKC can take away his 3's for the most part anytime they want. The problem is that means that's one less defender in the paint to protect against James and Wade.

The wide open 3 is one of the easiest shots a professional basketball player takes.

Overall, I agree.

Jalen Rose made a good point that Durant was out of the game with foul trouble. That would increase Westbrook's need to score.
He still went overboard with it, but I thought Rose added perspective.
I agree. I don't mind Westbrook trying to score when he DRIVES to the hoop. His jump shot is awful. Harden and Durant need to be getting 40 shots up between each other.

No it isn't.
IMO it is. At least it has been in the Finals so far. If it's not working change it up. He needs to keep getting to the hoop. Thats what he's good at...and well of course passing when he wants to. He needs to stop trying to be the hero and MVP. Because he's not.

Westbrook needs to be the hero and MVP if the Thunder are going to win this series.
Durant does. Westbrook needs to give him the ball. I don't have a problem with Westbrook trying to score sometimes, but sometimes he will shoot about 6 times straight. You can't do that. Durant is their best player and the ball needs to be in his hands most of the time. Durant needs to take over and be scoring 40 a game.

You don't get it. Durant will get his. Westbrook needs to as well. Also, LeBron is going to make it tough for Durant so Westbrook will have to pick up some slack there. That team will go as Westbrook goes.

Exactly. Durant is a constant, just like Lebron, they will both get their points. So it falls on the second guys, westbrook and wade, to sway the games.

I wonder how the Westbrook haters will feel to this fact?

OKC in the regular season and playoffs:

When Durant has more shots than Westbrook? 27-14

When Westbrook has more shots than Durant? 29-8

So please just shut up? Thanks.

It isn't as good as it will be. I think we can all agree that his shooting is an area to improve on in the next couple seasons.

let me preface this by saying I love westbrook, just so you don't get your panties in a bunch, but....

that's great and all but those aren't the only two variables in a game, it can depend on opponent, teammates' play, etc.

Take a look at all shooting statistic Durant vs. Westbrook. The durantula wins hands down. It can only help the team by getting the best shooter more shots, right?

For a guy who has led the planet in scoring three years in a row, Durant does it in a surprisingly efficient way where he's not a black hole hoisting up low % shots.

It's pretty hard to argue good things don't happen when he has the ball in his hands.

I agree with this post, but I also think Westbrook has been overly criticized for a guy who regularly produces near triple doubles in big games. The way they've started their past 3 games is by far the biggest issue, the impressive thing is they won 2/3 of those horrible starts (but being at home helps that).
