Soccer and sex?

I think alot of kids find soccer more fun because it's much simpler to play than baseball. They chase the ball around and try to kick it down field and into the net. There's alot of moving and not much thinking. Baseball takes a much more refined skill set ( running, throwing, hitting, fielding) and alot more "strategery".

What you mean to say is playing baseball well takes more refined skill than playing soccer poorly.

at a young age maybe but soccer at an elite level is not a simple sport compared to baseball

Since we're going down this hijacked path here is my analogy re: soccer in the States.

I love soccer. I played in HS and in college, and coached at the HS level. I love Manchester United. And I am never more passionate than when the USMNT plays in the World Cup. I think anyone who knows me would not dispute my soccer bona fides.

However, I see soccer in the States like Tim Tebow. People who love soccer (or love Tim Tebow) spend soooo much of their time telling other people why they should also love soccer (or Tim Tebow) that they end up having the opposite affect, and people end up hating soccer (or Tim Tebow) more than they would have had they never been told why soccer (or Tim Tebow) is the greatest thing in the history of the world.

In short, I think people hate "soccer guy" (or "Tim Tebow guy") more than they actually hate soccer (or Tim Tebow).

End rant.

goes both ways - for every overbearing soccer fan trying to force the sport down someone's throat there is a person who has to tell you how much soccer sucks instead of just avoiding the conversation and minding their own business

no other sport is so polarizing in america where the haters find the need to criticize it incessantly instead of just letting the fans discuss it amongst themselves

but you can't use your hands!!!!!

I DESPISE soccer. Mostly because it is taking too many kids away from Little League baseball. I get tired of seeing kids in my neighborhood kicking that damn ball in their backyard instead of playing wiffle ball. If I could put every soccer player and fan in a single spot and nuke them...I would (not serious, but you get the point).

Well if that's the case, bye Earth.

Baseball is a dying breed. MLS is E X P A N D I N G.

Well when it comes to kids with short attention spans one sport is constant running and movement, the other is not, that's the way it is with my son anyways. He doesn't care how simple or complex a sport is, he just wants to run and have fun.

Baseball is repetition. Soccer is improvisation. Hence, "the beautiful game." Try eating with your feet for a week and tell me using them is not a refined skill set.

Anyone can play either sport poorly, however it's harder to play baseball at a higher level.

If I had a dime for every time I've heard this statement I'd have a ***** load of dimes. Usually it comes from small towns, like the one I came from. And it makes absolutely no sense. You're basically saying you despise the fact that kids are doing something they'd rather be doing and you wish they'd be doing something they don't want to do. Even if that were a rational thought (which it isn't), it makes no sense to blame the game itself.

D@mn you soccer for being so fun!

I agree with the small town idea. My parents are from a small town and probably barely knew of soccer's existence since they were pretty far from any town big enough to have it. They got my brother in to Little League and later soccer. His baseball career didn't last long and mine never began because attending his games scarred me for life. I'm still recovering and showing improvements but the pain is still there. We both played soccer all through high school, generally four seasons a year if we could get an indoor team but definitely three.

Well thank you for finally and definitely ending the debate! My guess is you've never played high level soccer. Probably never seen high level soccer up close either.

there's nothing beautiful about watching 22 fairies run around for 90 minutes to play to a 0-0 tie.

If God intended us to play sports with just our feet we'd walk on our hands.

You know what would make soccer watchable? Cut the field in half and hide land mines all over the field.

Like I said, baseball is harder to play. The whole world couldn't possibly master the game at such a high level.

The whole world could, if they gave a rats. Fortunately, they don't, and we have the World Cup, which is unfortunately only every four years. What would we do though if the whole world took off every summer for the World Cup. If not for the global economy being at stake it would overtake the NCAA tourney as the greatest annual event in sports. For now it just has to be the best event in sports.

Aside from your misogyny and homophobia this is pretty funny. By your logic, if god had intended that we play sports with bats and gloves we'd have been born with a club or a glove for one hand.

Fairies in a contact sport. That's refreshing. Good thing our varsity football team and soccer team were 75% the same people. You know what would make baseball watchable?

Impossible question to answer.
