Sounds a lot like McD's tenure...So when would you say a determination should be made on him? Next year? Sophomore QB or at least a second year QB. I don't think so. I think 5 years is enough but I would probably go with 6.
It won't matter, for some reason some people always think that the OC is the person holding the program back. They're an easy target for people who don't understand football.
Seems that way from his posts on Twitter and de-committing from aTmso back to eddie porter. is he for sure coming here or what?

Depends on how much data one needs to make a decision. Some people are better at speculating than others.
Things for you to understand about football:
-2nd to last in the conference in TOs
-last in pass efficiency
-2nd to last in 3rd down conversions
-last in red-zone offense
-2nd to last in ppg
I would think even someone of your football intellect would understand the offense is not performing to the level ISU needs it to.
Next year is shaping up nicely.
I agree. I don't want to hype them too much, either. But I'm not saying that 2-3 years from now, all these guys are going to be stars. What I'm saying is that 2-3 years from now, I hope we will look back to these recruits and see that they became the backbone of a defensive unit that allows us to hold our own against the best of the Big 12, and get to that 7-9 win consistency that we all are hoping for.
Reread my post. By not excusing Herman's performance with "he is doing the best he can with what one could expect him to get at ISU" I am doing exactly the opposite your accusation.
I am suggesting that Herman's ability to get players does not appreciably change coming off of 2-10 or 5-7. Year 1 you sell PT and hope. Year 3 you sell progress and I suppose results (although I am not sure 5-7 is much different than 2-10 to a 17 year-old in Texas/Florida).

Can you quantify the effect turnovers have had on our scoring this year? My guess: around 6-7 points/game. A lot of our turnovers were also due to inexperience. The offense this year is light years more effective than last year's was. I expect a huge jump next year in scoring because of the added experience.

Basketball and football are two completely different things, especially in terms of how long it takes. First, you have about 4 times as many players to all play together not counting injuries which are more prevalent in football. Second, you need to develop kids for much longer to get them ready

6 years is a ridiculously long amount of time to make a determination on a coordinator.
I never claimed otherwise.Basketball and football are two completely different things, especially in terms of how long it takes.
Please show me where I said the last one? Again, first year D-1 QBs which should be expected in year 3 and ISU. There is also a pretty inexperienced Oline, young RBs and new receivers just scratching the surface. You also have to realize we play in the best offense league in the country so rankings may or may not be a good measuring stick for Tom Herman.

I don't think so. Not with a complete system overhaul and a tough place to recruit to. If we just look at the QB position which is, a lot of times an offenses limiting factor:
Year 1-Staff scrambles and takes Capello
Year 2-You get Barnett, he redshirts
Year 3-Barnett is your starter mid way through the season, Richarson RSing
Year 4-You are still starting a 2nd year QB, perhaps a sophomore
Year 5-This should probably be a year you need to see results
Year 6- Profit
and he has just tweeted that he is now a cyclone.
