When will Clone fans starting respecting UNI?

Just realized who started that 'we shouldve not played the storm warning intro at the OSU game' thread.

I'm starting to think that CreightonClone is probably McD's son. He's got all 3 going for him. Creighton (obvious) Clone (still has some respect for ISU) Purple Hard On (obvious). I think I have you pegged down. Not Doug, the other one, whoever that might be.

No affiliation with Creighton U. Creighton is a small town in Eastern Nebraska.

I will respect UNI when they have success in a BCS conference. Since they will never join one, the simple answer is that I will never respect UNI athletics, no matter what they achieve.

I will treat them like little brother because they really are little brother. They play FCS football, and they play mid-major basketball. They are simply a lower level program than us. Losing to them regularly is unacceptable, even if they are enjoying a historic level of success.

This is a stupid post completely devoid of any rational thought or semblance of intelligence.

So let me get this straight; teams like Butler, Gonzaga, Xavier, VCU, Memphis, etc. don't deserve any respect simply because they don't play in a BCS conference? No matter the recent successes those programs have had? That's just plain dumb.

If anyone ever wonders why non-BCS/mid-major programs and fans have a grudge against the so-called "big boys", this line of thinking is Exhibit A.

Not every post in this thread by angry, paranoid Cyclone fans has been an epic fail, but enough of them have to revise my estimate of 5% of Cyclone fans being complete and total morons to a solid 8%.

I respect the UNI program. They play solid team basketball. I don't respect their fans however. For some reason, they think they are God's gift to everything in every sport. I grew up in Cedar Falls and most of their fans are bandwagon ("cheer for Iowa when we're not good") and obnoxious and truly believe that UNI is superior to ISU in everything (academically and athletically).

Losses to UNI in football are unacceptable. I DO have respect for the UNI football program and the job that Farley is doing there. They are consistently a good team and have a great chance in the playoffs this year. But that being said, they play FCS football not FBS. There is no excuse why our team should ever lose to an FCS team. The talent gap between the two levels for a sport that has 11 players on the field at a time is too great to accept losses. Being as that we have only lost one time in the last 15 years and Chizik was our coach that year and I refuse to remember that those two years of Cyclone football actually happened, thats not bad.

Like football, their basketball team is consistently pretty good. Yes they did beat Kansas and go to the Sweet Sixteen. The Mid-Major to Major conference gap is increasingly shrinking. But there is no excuse for losing THREE STRAIGHT HOME GAMES to UNI. Especially if we consider ourselves a basketball school and play in a place known for "Hilton Magic." Big 12 are simply better than UNI and Drake so if we want to be competitive in winning conference championships we should consistently beat UNI and Drake not lose 5 out of the last 6 including 3 straight at home.

Go Panthers! (when not playing us of course)

This has never happened. I am not sure when you would have thought it did, but has never happened.

Oh, so you are admitting that the UNI-Dome is so pathetic that high school teams can't even get excited enough playing there to sell out its tiny confines?:jimlad:

And a fair follow-up question. When did UNI fans stop beating their wives?:jimlad::jimlad:

Please do not lump all UNI fans as dual Hawk and Panther fans. There are quite a few of them, but they **** me off so much. I hate the Hakweyes with an intensity that you would not believe. I cheer against them no matter who they are playing. I will actually cheer for Iowa State whenever they do not play UNI. I really like what Paul Rhodes is doing, and I don't think we will be close to you in years to come with Rhodes at the helm.

You do not have to respect us. As fans there is no need for respect, and I don't care if you respect us or not. The problem is your players don't respect us right now, and they need to. You will not beat an opponent if you don't respect the fact that they could beat you.

I agree with most of you, and I wouldn't be happy about losing to any team 5 out of 6 times. Just don't degrade UNI. We are what we are. I am not going to stop being a fan of UNI. If you think you have it bad now just look back to what Panther basketball fans had to endure under Sam Weaver. I wouldn't completely write The Mayor off yet either. He is a first time coach, and will get better. I think Iowa State could get to where you want them to be with Hoiberg at the Helm.

Sorry for the rant. Good luck the rest of the way and I will be cheering for you. Especially against the gosh forsaken Hawkeyes!
