To be superstitious or not . . .

I've been growing a fu-manchu since late August. It started as a joke and then we went 3-0. The old lady hates it, but sacrifices need to be made for the greater good. There's magic in facial hair. Keep it.

Second, if her complaint is that she doesn't like the way it looks, tell her that your facial hair choice is yours. If she does what my wife did when I first started growing a beard (commenting about it every day), ask her to think about how she would feel if she got a new haircut that she thought looked really cute, she came home and I said I thought it was ugly, she should change it, and then continued to say that every day until she went back to the stylist. I think that would be very rude and inconsiderate, and that my facial hair is the same thing. That stopped it pretty quickly.

This may be the best pieced advice I heard on this site to date.

It wasn't a big deal until the OP posted it online. Soon all of CycloneNation will be tied to his facial hair's fate. How about go ahead and shave it, but don't tell anyone here...

It is kinda funny that there are several of us doing this. I wore the exact same outfit to the first two games as well. For the UConn game, I was just sitting on the couch at home, so I didnt get all dressed up in gameday gear. After the 1st quarter, I went and changed into my game attire and we turned it around. Now I will definitely wear that same outfit to the Texas game.

-That brings up an interesting question. Do you get "Gameday dressed" for away games, or just when you go to the stadium?

Do what you feel like doing.

I'm not superstitious, as Edmund Burke said, superstition is the religion of feeble minds.

As for your wife, 2 comments. First, if her complaint is that she doesn't like how it feels when she kisses you, give it time. Once it gets long enough, it lays down and feels softer.

I have this same problem as well. When I have even the smallest amount of facial hair I am constantly harassed by my girlfriend. I will use this next time she bothers me.

I used a similar technique when she bothers me about when I buy a new gun. She says "Why do you need a new gun, 1 will do the exact same thing as a different one!!" I respond, well a golfer could use only 1 golf club right? she says he could yes. I then say well it the same with guns. I could use 1 gun as well for hunting. But different guns are used for different types of hunting..... She has not bothered me since then..

I noticed that whenever I wear my AA #4, but take it off during some point at the half, ...or spill beer on the number ...or not take it off at all, we have won the last three. So, I will be doing 1 of those three things. If I fail to do so, you guys can blame me, and/or the OP.

Ok, I started growing a beard in August. My wife does not like the beard and was always commenting on when I am going to shave it off. I have to admit that I thought we'd probably lose the Iowa game. During the week of the Iowa game, instead of fully giving into her demands I told her that I would shave when ISU loses. As we all know, ISU has won their last two games in un-ISU fashion and are still undefeated. The wife's rhetoric has started to increase again. Do I finally give in and make the wife happy, or do I plead superstition and state that since I made the statement I have to see the thing thru. Thoughts?
Shave. Your beard had no superstitious impact on the games. My new I-State Nike polo, however, is 2-0 since my sister gave it to me for my birthday. I am not washing it as long as we are on a winning streak.

DEAR GOD!!!!!

This thread brings up a great question. Are any of you superstitious with your pregame routine or what you drink before the game? (6 beers in 30 minutes prior to stadium entry is mine)

Yep, the cat's out of the bag. If you shave now, it could set off a chain of events that inescapably leads to ISU losing next Saturday. There's just too many people involved.

So far this season I have purchased an ice cold 24oz Steele Reserve for every game (home & away). You can bet your sweet *** I'll have one come Oct. 1st!

No, shaving could cause us to lose, and could also lead to the collapsing of the conference.

You can't shave it

Is she interested in any form of a mustache ride?

That mind change her mind.

Shaving now could create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe.

Granted, that's a worst-case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.

Did you change into this outfit sometime during the UNI game as well?
