Oklahoma Contemplating Leaving Big XII

If I'm reading that right, and the possibility is that a new league would form with Texas and the remainders, I'd rather see ISU in the Big East.

I'd listen to what UT wanted to do first. If UT made some guarantees with long term payouts then it would be worth evaluating. But I tend to agree with you, if we can find a home that looks more stable with comparable revenue then that would be fairly attractive right now.

Not sure we knew all along but possible we were preparing for a new future. We have recruited dome of our best players in our history from New York.

Just saw a breaking news scroll actross the bottom of the Oregon/LSU game stating that Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas looking at PAC-12 and that T Boone Pickens is expecting Okie State to be moving to that conference soon and he will support the move.

You know, if they want to go, just do it. Let their fans suffer watching games till all hours of the night, and let their student athletes suffer from flying half a continent to play games. It will last ten years at the most until the stupidity of the arrangement can no longer be tolerated. Hopefully it will also hasten the removal of the non-profit status for the NCAA FBS schools and conferences.

I think Mizzou will head to the SEC if the Big 12 dies.

Wrong. From all I have heard, Mizzou was trying to edge Nebraska out because the Huskers had been trying to make the move for years on the down low, and Missouri caught word of it. You want to know what TO was doing in DC all those years, where you didn't hear anything from him? Story is he was lobbying all the politicians in Big10 states for Nebraska to be added.

Who is the AD at Nebraska now again? Who ended up in the Big10? Exactly. Who voted against revenue sharing for years on end? You want a bad guy, look to the west.

Mizzou found out what Neb was doing was because Neb wanted Mizzou to find out. Mizzou then started talking Big10, which gave Neb the scapegoat they needed. Missouri was used by Nebraska.

The only unknown is whether or not Missouri found out they were used and were able to leverage it for a future deal to the B1G. From what I was told, they did find out but didn't make the deal, which is why you hear them talking about the SEC. If they do move, don't be surprised to hear the B1G talk expansion again now that they don't have to worry about Missouri.

ou thinking long term. hard to do that in the current b12 when you see texas with what they are doing with their network, and possibly having the ability to go independent in a few years. adding a team or 3 is short-term thinking at best for ou. TAM and teams like them are getting out while the getting is good, JIMO.

Yeah.. i cant entirely blame OU. They go to the PAC and they take most of their former south schools with them (OSU\TTU\Texas), and texas is forced to operate more as an equal member if they join the PAC rather than dominating things. OU gets the best of both worlds in that situation.

KSU fans want the 5 to stick together and add teams. I think ISU and Baylor would be game for that, but there is no way Mizzou and KU stick around for that IMO.

While true, would Pinkel support that move? They would be the northernmost school in the SEC. Not a good thing in a conference it would already be hard for them to compete in.

Maybe they would opt for BE over SEC expecially if KU is going BE. That could minimize our shot at BE as well unless BE goes to 14 and takes all 5 castaways which would be best case scenario in my mind because we could have a western division with TCU and Louisville that would minimize travel issues.

I don't find it very plausible that NU was working behind the scenes years ago for an in to the Big Ten. I think they were very happy in the Big 12 until the events of last year unfolded. Sure, they didn't like Texas, but outside of the Longhorns they were very successful in the league and had lots of rivals and the league provided a great geographic fit for their fans.

I still don't see Texas going to the PAC-12. The LHN is going to be a sticking point and I don't see them just dropping or re-arranging it as is suggested. ESPN owns the network and contract. The PAC-12 has regional networks, but they are owned by the conference. There is no way that Larry Scott will allow an ESPN owned network already seen to be pushing the boundary to become a regional channel. And, since ESPN has first rights to Texas going independent, why would they just agree to dropping the contract and shutting down the network? They have invested way too much money in the LHN to just drop it now.

I guess I see this going down as OU, OSU, Tech, and Mizzou to the PAC-16 leaving Texas find their own path. This is why Texas is said to be working so hard to keep the conference alive. While they are obviously in a much better situation than us and Baylor, they could be left in a difficult situation when this all goes down. Perhaps they and ND could form a two team conference and claim they deserve an AQ status.

You can tell by listening to him that something is HORRIBLY wrong. The conference is done. Time to grab onto KU and KSU and become a package deal.

All you have to do is look at national politics today and compare it to years past to see America has changed. The super conferences wouild not have happened twenty years ago.

The KU AD looked to be in a complete state of shock....this oklahoma thing caught him completlely off gaurd...if the rumors are true that we had BYU/TCU and AF willing to come aboard but OU said no then we know that they always wanted to be out west anyway. I think the old north schools got played again....

The biggest issue I see for ISU is the folks involved in B12 expansion talks are the ones that are being targeted by the others conferences. I could see a conflict of interest there. They can control everything from a conference perspective, meaning they could potentially just push for conference dissolution and there could be no financial remedies for the ISU & KSUs of the conference without litigation. There could be a huge lawsuit brewing if this thing completely falls apart.
