I still don't see Texas going to the PAC-12. The LHN is going to be a sticking point and I don't see them just dropping or re-arranging it as is suggested. ESPN owns the network and contract. The PAC-12 has regional networks, but they are owned by the conference. There is no way that Larry Scott will allow an ESPN owned network already seen to be pushing the boundary to become a regional channel. And, since ESPN has first rights to Texas going independent, why would they just agree to dropping the contract and shutting down the network? They have invested way too much money in the LHN to just drop it now.
I guess I see this going down as OU, OSU, Tech, and Mizzou to the PAC-16 leaving Texas find their own path. This is why Texas is said to be working so hard to keep the conference alive. While they are obviously in a much better situation than us and Baylor, they could be left in a difficult situation when this all goes down. Perhaps they and ND could form a two team conference and claim they deserve an AQ status.
