***Official Minnesota Vikings Draft Pick Discussion Thread***

While I agree with your point in general, Favre was considered as having one of the stronger arms in the NFL.

I think you missed it then actually. There are lots of great QBs with great arms but I don't know of any who had that as thier chief attribute. For Favre I think it was the ability to keep a play alive and make risky moves work (when he didnt get picked ). He also had a great arm.

Ponder will either turn out to be a huge hit, or a huge miss..there wont be an in between. In my eyes, I find it hard to pass on Blaine Gabbert and move down to pick him...JMHO

He has a great arm. Yay! Jeff George and Ryna Leaf had fantastic arms as well. George is still widely considered one of the most naturally gifted QBs to play. This just shows that the Vikings are dedicated. To always having a lousy QB. Their front office needs to contract out the QB scouting.

While I think Ponder is a major stretch and possibly would have been available in the 2nd round at least the Bears got the Ravens back for the Vikings. :jimlad:

I think the Vikes reached on the Ponder pick. But 3 QB's were off the board already. This will turn out very good or it could be a rerun of T-Jack II.

On a side note, I noticed that former Cyclone signee, James Carpenter, who was a non-qualifier out of HS was drafted at #25.

TE Rudolph out of Notre Dame....I'm not ****** I guess. We need a good #2 TE and he is a very good player. Doesn't fill an immediate need but it does make our team better.

The Vikings are really making me ponder as to what they're doing.

Interesting...didn't realize Matt Millen was handling the Vikings draft this year

Looking forward to their third round pick; who is the best available long snapper? I've also heard Herschel Walker wants to make a comeback. Vikings should go after him again.

Pete Prisco of CBS gave them an "A" for the pick. Here are his comments:

Pete Prisco is the worst/dumbest so called ''expert'' journalist I have ever read. The guy is almost always wrong and writes some of the most moronic articles you could ever read. Every time I get on cbssports(every day) I am astonished this guy STILL has a job there.

Paul Allen said he knows Washington would have taken Ponder at 16. So the Vikes were smart to get him at 12.

Rudolph is a fine pick as far as I'm concerned. Shiancoe isn't likely to be re-signed after this year. This guy will be solid for years. Best Tight End in the draft

Chilly already got Randy Moss with that pick.
