Oklahoma State Game to be played on Friday, Nov 18

There's not much of a point in worrying about playing guessing games with attendance anymore...people will show up or they won't (more than likely, plenty won't). But, I'm not sure it'd be much different if it were on Saturday instead.

Great point, no matter what happens people going to hate it. The differnece of a couple thousand fans at one game really isnt that meaningful. So maybe there is 40K instead of 42K, which are low priced tickets anyway, and that much in concessions isn't moving the needle. Big deal. I'll take the ESPN money and TV exposure every single time.

I'm calling it:

I competely agree, to me it's a no-brainer that we take the friday game & the ESPN that comes with it. Awesome for our program. I'm sure some people won't be overly excited about rushing to Jack Trice after work friday, but they'll get over it

Who are these people? I'd rush over the JTS after work EVERY day if there was a football game.

Already put my time off request in and it was approved to take the whole day off. Pretty jacked for this. Also, glad to see the whine crowd has made it out.

Oklahoma State is going to be a pre-season top 10 team. Shut your mouth, put in your time off request, wear a heavier coat and get to the game.

I've seen people say what they think it might do to attendance overall, but I haven't seen anyone say "it's on a friday & will be cold, I'm not coming"...

How is that whining?

Is it really an advantage anymore have a south team play in iowa in Oct/Nov anymore? Seems like it doesn't really get below 40 anymore till about Dec. We usually visit the in-laws in Dallas in Dec or Jan and it's always about 30-40 degrees there, and Stillwater is farther north then Dallas.

Ask Blaine Gabbert what it is like to play in Ames in November. The player who could be the number 1 draft pick next season had one if not his worst outing of the season last year in Ames.

1. ISU defense played an excellent game.
2. ISU offense posed zero threat to Mizzu, scoreboard was close but without AA - ISU had no real shot. Mizzu did nothing creative on offense.
3. Yes, I'm sure the cold was a factor, but IMO - not the level of factor it can be made out to be.

A sure loss turns to a win because the date and broadcast changed?

ESPN will cooperate with the Ames Buffalo Wild Wings to install tripping devices disguised as sprinklers in the field, distributing remote controls to random ISU fans in the stands - and at home.

But yes, Chuck. I too found the sudden "it's a win now" comments to be amusing.

While I agree with 1. Weather plays a MAJOR part in football whether you want to believe that or not.

I listened to a podcast of CW and Arnaud a while back and Arnaud said the cold has no impact on the teams from the south.

Anyone standing still on the sidelines is going to be cold, no matter team you play for. Once you start moving around and get the blood flowing a little it's not really an issue.

Correct. The weather impacts both teams. Just because ISU players live in it, doesn't mean they will be any more warm than the opposition.

10+ years ago, yes. Today, almost everyone has an indoor facility. The teams practice less outdoors than many people think. And there is a balancing act a coach has to go thru between exposing his team to the elements and keeping is team healthy.

AA, not being on a team from the south, is not an authority on the issue.

It's not like our team is practicing in extreme elements all the time to condition themselves to weather. We have an indoor facility that I would guess gets used a lot more as the season goes on. AA is not on a team from the south but I think he might know better than most of us.

Just because I live in Iowa doesn't mean I get less cold as the winter goes on because I'm MORE used to it.
