Hamilton Considering Cal, LSU, Virginia

And McDermott losing players every ******* year isn't a coincidence either.

Since you don't know me, I am not a Mac defender and I think the player retention has been and is ridiculously unacceptable. I am merely pointing out the fact that the coaches at the schools in the article all have strong West Coast/Pac 10 ties which possibly includes prior connections with the coaches and possible contact with Justin or his family going back to his high school days so there is no need for people to use this to create a reason to call Hamilton names or as further reason to complain about the coaches. There are enough reasons to complain about the coaches that are based on fact (W-L record against B12 as well as MVC teams since tenure began) so as not to need to create issues that really may have no bearing on them.

I think it was probably obvious from the outset that this wasn't about being homesick. Like many others have pointed out, you don't usually lose someone for that after they have been around a couple years. You also don't typically lose a returning starter.

I think it is quite clear that it is an issue with the relationship between the player and the staff. Given our turnover in the last few years, I don't think that is a stretch at all. I think when you see things like the Dendy suspension that lasted like 20 minutes, or the Colvin suspension that was lifted cause Brackins said it should be, that other players may get the impression that the staff isn't totally in charge, or that there isn't equity in the treatment of everyone. That could drive a person to want to leave.

You just don't leave Iowa for Virginia or LSU when you are homesick for Utah.

I appreciate the info. that is provided by all on this board. But for those with "inside" info. it is amazing to see how posts like the one I quoted get no response, yet those of "McD sucks" are argued for hours.

So, why would a Big 12 starter give up a year to go to another school? The homesick excuse is out. What else is there? Without knowing the actual reason, all I can come up with is the coach ain't very good and its only getting worse.

Maybe they don't like Hilton or Iowa State.

I get what you're saying, but my point is that even though these ties are strong, I think that a guy should have a stronger connection to the coach he's been with for 2 years, as opposed to some guy who he knew a few years back.

Yeah the homesick thing needs to officially stop. That's my only beef with CIMD in this Hamilton situation...he kept defending the idea of Ham being homesick.

You don't meet with those schools if you are homesick. End of discussion.

Is there still a chance that he will come back or was that talk yesterday misleading? If there is still a chance, lets just hope he stays here....ISU mens BBall has had enough bad luck, perhaps this is the turning point?

And the crickets continue to chirp...

I don't think this is something that gets argued because it is spot on. The question to debate about it would be, can McD figure out how to fix it and turn things around or not, but there isn't much question that up to now we have come up short in managing and retaining players. We have had some nice recruits, and Mac knows how to x and o, what he hasn't shown is an ability to handle the issues and the egos of Big 12 players, and as such we have this continued revolving door.

I think if you eliminate the turnover issues we have had the last 4 years, we are winning a lot more games. I also think that if we haven't figured it out by now, we aren't going to.

This is what you said:

You said there is a distinct possibility of Hamilton coming back.

From distinct - Dictionary definition and pronunciation - Yahoo! Education...

Here are some definitions for distinct:

Please notice #4. From the above blog, it would appear the possibility of Hamilton playing for ISU next near is certainly not "distinct". On the level of "distinctness", I would put it on par with the possibility of me, at 44 years of age, coming back and playing for ISU...

In any case, if his issues are dealt with, ISU could certainly use him back on the team...

Way to go Jbhtexas for taking on a 16 year old over semantics. Would you like to take on my two year old nephew next????? He is ready tough guy. He can stick his tongue out at you quicker than you can look it up in the dictionary...

Return on investment, this is why we need to red shirt any project.
If he had to lose a year to tranfer he might think twice.

I agree that they should be, but that relates to the player retention issues this coaching staff has - not whether or not there is some "lie" that was said about being "homesick" which is the issue my original post was trying to address based on the numerous people using the schools that Hamilton is looking at as a reason to bash Hamilton and/or the coaching staff.

2 year olds and 16 year olds are on the same level of understanding semantics? I feel stupid for not knowing that.

He supposedly has sources with inside information to ISU athletics. Why should his age matter? If he is old enough to post, he should be old enough to take responsibility for what he posts. It's not like the information he is sharing is about the Ames 5th grade BB team. It's about a major university sports program.

Hopefully when your nephew is learning English language, his parents will teach him what "distinct" means...

CIMD wants to play with the grown ups, he should be able to get called out just like anyone else would. Thing is, from seeing him post he would handle that comment a lot more calmly and maturely than you did.

GMac and Ham owe the Iowa State fan base an explanation. You cannot use "closer to home" as an excuse for transferring and then be considering LSU, Virginia, and Cal. I really wish GMac would have a press conference. As a fan base we deserve to hear the whole truth. This is extremely frustrating!!!

Do we really want a PC? "Okay, I admit it, I just want the **** out of here".
