Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

I don't say this lightly - I'm beginning to dislike everything about college sports. I don't even have a desire to attend an ISU game of any kind in person anymore and watching is hit and miss. Kind of sad.
This is where most fans will end up as well. Might take a decade or so but the greedy basterd suits are siphoning off everything that makes college good.
Why would I watch a worse NFL or NBA? At least those leagues have rules (in theory). Greed ruins everything and Americans are the greediest of all.

Aside from the transfer and NIL stuff the WWEism of football has probably made me less interested over anything else.

I caught some FCS and D2/3 games last year online and really enjoyed how it was just a football game and players weren't acting like they were the first one ever to make a routine play.

Basketball interest will fade even more as they add teams to the tourney.

I’m the opposite. It’s never been better.

Far more parity than ever before in both sports imo.The portal means you’re never more than one offseason away from turning things around. Free agency with money more palatable than following high school recruiting in which you hope your coach can show enough “love” to 16-17 year olds, only to have a blue blood come in last minute and win, with the recruit getting little PT
Good points here.

We have literally never been in a better position in basketball to be really, really good EVERY season. Year after year after year. And, we have a coach that thrives in this environment.

Honestly, Milan should just go to UK, get his 5-7mil, and be done with it.

Being a 2nd round pick can happen next year.
If the NCAA passes the 5 years to complete 5 years of eligibility rule, Milan could play 2 more years of college ball, make $10-15 million, and then try to make it in the NBA. Then if he doesn't make it at the pro level, so what, he's still set for life

My family and I did the same thing. Love ISU, but my college kids needed the financial support at the time. It was painful too but was the right decision. Don't regret it.
Can't let negativity prevail all the time on this board. Bizaare times indeed, but i have increased my donations. Does it make sense? Who knows, it's an individual decision. Iowa State athletics have never been better in spite of what is going on. I believe our potential to keep increasing our excellence has never been better, in spite of all the BS. Gotta keep trying.

If you don't care anymore or don't contribute financially, then why come on this board? Is it to support your cognitive feelings about your decision to disengage? I know I'm coming off like a smartass, but that is not in my intent.

You gave every right to post and describe your feelings. Also, I have the right to state that our athletics have never been better and I am contributing more.

“ I’m sure if I have to go back, there is a spot open for me somewhere,” he said. “I’m still going through this process — the deadline is the 27th of May, so I have a couple of weeks.”

“I just think high interest, maybe some promises — but I don’t think teams promise that early by the deadline,” Momcilovic continued. “If there are guaranteed contracts, that would be good. If it’s later in the second round, those are usually two-way contracts, then I’d probably go back. We’ll see.”

“If I return to college, just a fit that I can play well in and hopefully help my chances to go to the NBA the year after that,” he said. “Hopefully I’m on a good team that can go far in the tournament.”
Sounds like he's lft the door open to return to ISU if the pro shot doesn't happen. ;)

Please describe why Americans are the greediest of all.

Also, pro football has never been better and pro basketball players and the NBA ( not an NBA fan) have never been better. I am MJ era and he is still the best imo, but top to bottom, pro sports have never been better.

You complain about suits and American greed. It seems you gave stronger feelings about something other than the quality players and leagues. The players and leagues, top to bottom, have never been better.

The elite teams in both football and MBB are mostly the teams with the most money. I do not know if Americans are the most greedy but we are clearly the most “me” oriented.

Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern, SMU, etc. have lots of money and don't excell in FB or BB. In defense of Stanford, they have an excellent, overall Athletic program.

I'm trying to figure out if comments like this are a conversation about something other than College athletics or a slam on our American culture of "greed and me"?

He could take the NIL now but the perception will become, “he’s not good enough to play in the NBA” and may not even get drafted after year 5. If you can get a spot in the league you take it. A 10 year career in the NBA is gonna be waaaay more lucrative than two years of college ball.
Yeah, I get the feeling that people are not listening to his words and are just saying that he'll do what they would do in that scenario. He wants to be in the league, if someone offers him a contract (not two way), he'll accept.

Dude, look at the responses and ratings to my post and the responses and ratings to yours. It's okay to be wrong.

I think Milan will be fine offensively in the NBA, especially since he won’t be getting the top defender all the time, if at all. But its not crazy to say Milan benefited significantly from TJs system defensively. He will be a below average defender in the NBA playing against elite athletes night in and night out.

Well said Mr. Albaugh...

Goodman is a complete moron or his sources are idiots. Id say probably both. He's said year after year TJ is taking an open job at (insert blue blood). Continues to be wrong about everything.
I think he likes to say a lot so that he can be "right" if it turns out one of the claims is correct. "A broken clock is right twice a day."

Congratulations and glad you can, I'm just waiting to get priced out of my seats then it'll be JW and Eric on the radio for me. I still like ISU athletics but me actually caring about a athlete is dropping rapidly. I used to believe some of them actually liked being at ISU, now lots of them I have my doubt. Tamin did AJ in WBB does, Konrady in FB, some of the wrestlers maybe?
My allegiance actually lie with ISU the university not the athletes. I'll cheer them on but they come and go and the University is still there.
