Audi Crooks to Transfer

Yep. And Audi was the last to announce that she was leaving. Everyone else leaving announced before. So after everyone left Audi is supposed to stay? Probably figured best to transfer and get a big bagful of money and a better roster of players to play with. Audi nailed it.
The question remains, would the same people have left had Audi announced first

Rumor was Audi was told she could wait on making her decision but all the other players had to say going/staying in their end of season interviews.

Well Jada Williams has transferred from two programs now that she has labeled “toxic”. Maybe it’s Jada Williams causing programs to become toxic. No question she seeks money and social media exposure. As long as we are fueling rumors.

AI google says average salary was about $119,000. In the new contract, it goes to $583,000. Salary cap is $7M. Top contract $1.4 M. Did I hear a $1,4M number somewhere?

Saw this reposted after her announcement. This is within one game.

Oof! That first play she didn't even try and look at Jada and AJ's body language right after she let that player go for a wide open layup. The next play they kind of use Audi to screen Hare off her player and looks like Hare may have looked or said something her way after the bucket possibly. 3rd play she is looking right at AJ's player that beat her and didn't even try to cut her off and doesn't even box out her own player who gets an easy rebound and put back.

It will be very interesting to see if she shows improved effort on defense next season or if we see some of the same stuff again. Some here rail on Bill saying he is too hard on players and that is why they transfer out but in Audi's case some here are saying it's Bill's fault for not pushing her harder. This is the fine line coaches walk these days because if you are too tough they just leave. I don't know what goes on in practice or outside of games but that kind of defense you can't blame Bill entirely for. She is an All-American, if she is not self-motivated to play better defense than she does that is her flaw. The great players always are trying to work to be better.

I remember watching her play in HS in the state tournament wondering how she would be able to play D1 basketball. She would just stand in the lane with her hands in the air on defense and do a lot of the same things like in this video. I assumed it was because she was so much bigger than everyone at that level and it was to keep her out of foul trouble. The offense translated at the next level but I actually think her defense regressed this season compared to the 1st 2 years she played. We'll see if Hoyt can light a fire under her I guess.

I was not one that would be critical of her weight but I found myself saying this past season she looks like she was heavier than she has ever been since she has been at ISU. I have a family member that was an assistant WBB coach at a D1 school and head coach at some D2 and D3 schools a long time ago who also is connected with people in the WNBA today. They used to coach against Lisa Bluder before she was at Iowa and even text me when they ran into Lisa at a function this past summer. Anyways they have no allegiance to ISU but likes to watch our games and give me their unbiased opinions. Audi's weight and lack of defense this year was a common theme in our conversations. They don't think Audi will last long in the W against faster more athletic posts especially if she can't defend 1 on 1. Even though she signed with Unrivaled don't see how she could ever play that as the 3 on 3 is too fast paced and she would have to play defense.

It would be one thing if we could chalk up her defensive performance to a bad game but it happens game after game after game. I blame the coaching as much Audi for letting it happen.

If this new coach and system gets her to improve defensively, they’ll be in a much better shape than our program was over the last 2 years.

If she all the sudden shows interest in playing defense then I will have no problem blaming the coaching. I have already said I think this was a good time for Bill to retire once Audi left. There are a lot of layers to peel back on what happened this past season.

Got a $1.4 million payday. She is gone. Be thankful. Why keep ragging on her?
