**** Official 2026 MBB Spring Transfer Portal Thread ****

I’m guessing he has heard good news from the NBA.
Or he’s ok taking an NIL bag from another school.

I don’t watch the NBA, and we’ve seen plenty of surprises in drafts…both good and bad. Right now MM isn’t a high projection, but who knows what teams are telling him.

That said, he’s gonna be a surprise to see in the first and no guarantees in the 2nd.

I hope he makes the NBA work…don’t want to see him anywhere else.

That said, he’s a great shooter but I think we’ll see more offensive ability with what’s coming in next year without him.

He’s not a threat on the dribble. He’s not going to create his own shot. He’s not taking anyone to the hoop.

That sure was a quick transfer portal for Otzelbergerball.

Even if we had Kentucky or Kansas money, TJ’s approach would still never be “I’m just going to buy the five highest rated players”. Dude knows exactly what he needs to make his system run and it’s damn impressive.
Agree. You think Flory is going to 6am soccer field workouts and MMA training? These guys are all hungry

LOL...TJ has a plan, that's for damn sure. 5 guys in, 5 guys commit. Boom.
It’s just crazy and unprecedented. As someone pointed out, TJ has never had 2 commits in the same day, never had 3 in a weekend and never been done before tax day.

To identify the 5, get them all to campus for their first visit, and have them all commit before leaving is insane stuff.

Someone needs to post the hot ISU cheerleader meme where she does the Grizzly Adam’s all-knowing nod of approval. Seems appropriate today.

So to recap this weekend, Iowa State lands all 5 portal transfers who visited this weekend, hosted a very popular and very well attended Luke Combs concert, Milan confirmed he has all intentions of going pro and put his name in the portal as a “just in case” (and if you listened to Williams and Blum podcast from last week on this site, this was completely expected), all the while Iowa continues to strike out finding their portal commitments

Very good weekend IMO

10 is a bit much but 9 needs to be regular.

DRK and wiggins are freshman i am hoping play. maybe gray too. not sure what to think of kiss. there is a chance these freshman are awesome a couple of these xfers dont play much.

I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere that the plan may be to red shirt Gray because he’s coming off an injury. I could definitely be wrong, though.

5/5 is alright but if it came that easy im second guessing if i should of aimed a little higher.
“I’m not looking for the best players, Craig. I’m looking for the right ones.”

Not everyone can play under Otz’s system and demanding work regime. And if money is your primary motivation, you’ll never play for Otz

When you identify and bring in 5 targets and all five of them sign that weekend, clearly there was a mutual desire for them to be Cyclones. I get the feeling that a lot of transfer prospects were putting out feelers to TJ, and these were the ones that he selected for the opportunity.

So, is the NIL payroll about the same this next season for ISU? No Lipsey, Jefferson, or Milan type players. Would it be fair to say the 5 transfers from this weekend would be worth about $2.8 to $3 million for next year?

Probably had to up the payroll for Toure, Batemon, Buchanan, and Pleta. But with no big fish, or multiple big fish, the money could be spread more evenly throughout the roster.

Probably why there may be a lot more depth on the roster next year. This next year $4 million might be spread over 7-8 players instead of 3.
