WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Ive been saying its those 3 lol. Never thought Audi would leave.

There is also a rumor one of the depth players might not enter the portal and possibly come back as well.
I mean playing time is wide open now. If I love ISU and I was 10/11/12 off the bench, playing time is looking pretty, now.

Fwiw I was under the impression Audi was leaving from trustworthy sources. Haven’t spoke to them since, but I’m curious if we’re just taking all the money the 9 transfers put on the table and giving Audi the bag and putting a bunch of scrubs + AJ + Paulk around her

If I were a deep bench player I would assume things wouldn't change. The staff (whoever they are) will bring in players they expect to play which likely would leave the deep bench players right were they were at this season.

I thought she was gone too but the more this drags on starting to have a feeling she might be staying. Guessing ISU may be offering her a significant increased deal and she seems like the type that would like to stay close to home. Also, she knows she gets A LOT of shots playing at ISU where might not be the case everywhere else.

Or it could just be she is waiting for more offers to come in to decide where she is leaving to...who knows.

I never felt that Audi would leave. She has history of watching our games with her father, she in line to set many records here and it is close for her family to be at her games. If Bill is going to coach next year as his last my hope is some of our current players in the portal change their mind and return. wee pick up a few from the portal and finish next year with a decent record.

IMO it is likely Audi stays. She has the Fareway endorsement which is huge. Entirely possible Audi is getting more and others are resentful. I just don’t see Audi getting more and having her NIL value increase more than what it is at Iowa State. Addy was not the same after her injury. And some new additions did not produce.

Other than Jada, our track record in the portal hasn’t been great. Hannah also exceeded expectations, but most additions struggled to make a significant impact. Not that she would want to return, but I would take Raegan back and put her in the rotation.

Which is interesting considering they only signed one player in their class, while losing three (before transfers). A CR Gazette reporter (Jeff Linder) is reporting that they could lose two or three more, so five or six total.
New podcast by Leistikow says Deal’s parents were a nightmare, whispers on Reddit/Burner Ball say she was a bit of a princess….Jan feels "sense of relief" she is gone. Everyone thought it was so cool that her parents moved to IC, bet the coaching staff didn’t think so lol. Dad reportedly showed up at her end of year meeting…Joens flashbacks lol

Iowa is losing its bench (4 will be in the portal total) but retaining its top 4 players (Heiden, Wright, Stremlow, Houston) and bringing the #6 freshman in the country in Woliczko. Losing Deal hurts the floor but not their ceiling as she probably wasn’t gonna start next year — especially if Woliczko pans out (she should theoretically slide in for Stuelke at PF). People thought she was gonna come in and instantly start but she was a Top 20 recruit, not Top 5. Was a step slow, esp. on defense. Iowa's 6’6 freshman Hays also returns and Jan has spoken about how she’d like to play Heiden and Hays together someday. They’ll enter the season Top 10 next year but they will need shooters from the portal if they want to live up to it.

Jan has to recruit a whole new bench, but she has literally millions of rev share and NIL partnerships to work with now that she has cut all the fat. There were a lot of kids on the team this past getting paid a lot of money to ride pine. So it could work out for the best. But it’ll be a totally new era for the Hawks — never had to rely on the portal so heavily before...but there's no choice due to 4 graduating + 4 to the portal.

I would think Jan should have known what she was getting with Deal and her parents during the recruiting process. Didn’t she lose another talented freshman after last season.

Yep, Aaliyah Guyton to Illinois. Another nightmare father who would post drama on Facebook during games lol. He obviously never really got past Bluder retiring, felt pretty betrayed. Guyton was not at the level of Deal though. But tbh both are/were replaceable in terms of actual production on the floor.

I honestly think that if Bill "leaves", Audi is gone. Maybe that is why her announcement is being delayed?? I have no inside information, just a wild guess...

I really don't think Bill has any plans to retire -- this season, next season, or any particular season. Pollard isn't going to force out a storied 30 year coach who makes the NCAAT either.

I don't think Audi wants to leave. She is a cyclone at heart. But she knows that if she stays, ISU will likely have their worst season in a long time and the overall trajectory of her college basketball career will be one that can only be characterized as a regression/downward spiral. She doesn't want that either. Tough place to be in.

They lost Aaliyah Guyton to Illinois. She was coming off an ACL her year at Iowa and played behind other guards. Guyton could still blossom into a good guard, she was an ESPN #57. Guyton's dad was supposedly a driving force around her transferring. If she had stayed she would have likely had the minutes that Chit Chat played and they won't have recruited Wright. Wright over Guyton was a plus up for the Hawks as it turned out.

A lot of Iowa fans say "We're better off without Guyton because we got Chat" but one thing to keep in mind is that Wright came with LaSondra Barrett from GT (and rumors are swirling that she is trying to bring more former players along this off-season). I'm not sure Iowa wouldn't have ended up with both. But if given the choice, Chat is the superior PG by basically every measure. Jan has been very honest in saying they didn't want Guyton to leave and tried to get her to stay. Must have felt good to beat Illinois twice this year...
