I agree with everything else, but this is such a nails on chalkboard quote to me. "Can't get blood out of a turnip." I heard that non-stop in my other lives from people with plenty and I mean PLENTY of money and income. They just saw no value in paying for theirs debts they owed or even potential investments.
It is the AD'S job to show them the value in donating.
Jamie really can't get enough funds from Sukup, Albaugh, and on down the line?
Last I checked Albaugh is worth more than Booth (KU's buggest athletic donor) and ISU's athletic budget is on par with KU, if not a little bit higher. So KU AD can convince a guy worth less money to donate and keep Bill Self, but AD JP cannot get a guy worth more to keep TJ? Because the blood isn't in the turnip. I do not buy that. Then we need someone else who CAN secure funds. We have a few billionaires and plenty of multi-millionaires just like KU believe it or not.
This idea that ISU is all poverty and the narrative that there aren't potential ISU donors with money is fake news. Our AD can find money for CyTown, but not for successful coaches salaries to keep them around...wild. maybe he just isn't the fundraising type...well, we need one because I know of some ISU alumni and fans who are living incredibly comfortable compared to me (talking 500-1000x what I'm worth). If I can see the benefit of donating thousands of my dollars, we need an AD that can convince someone much richer to take care of these financial issues before the arise.
But there must be something I'm missing at KU and Self where their AD can do what ours can't in regards to donors.
