*** Official #5 IOWA STATE vs TCU Game(Day) Thread ***

Jefferson is so overrated. Tonight is just icing on the cake to the value in his stock.
He's a very good CBB player, but his poor handles and lack of explosiveness will deter him from being a good NBA player.

He's got plenty of moves once he has gotten to his spots on the floor, but he dribbles high and charges in like a bull to try to get to those spots. The defenders all know it and strip him of the ball all day long as he tries to attack to those spots he prefers.

It's a weird reality we occupy as fans where (prior to this debacle tonight) my team was 21-2, ranked in the top five most of the team, and still I wasn't sure if we're actually all that good. Seems to be a rather common sentiment among our fanbase.
Our best Big 12 win is UCF at home, in large part because of how easy our stretch has been. Next 3 weeks is a whole different animal.

We can be a good team but when you look at teams like Houston, Kansas, Arizona, Duke, etc., they have DUDES. We have 6'10" guys who can't finish around the rim. We have D1 scholarship athletes who can't even make free throws.

Those are the things that make a team elite. And that's why our ceiling as of now is the Sweet 16.

TJ with that confused look on his face near the end like... "how did we lose this thing?".

Well... because you sucked and got schooled tonight. If you're intent on putting the ball in JJ's hands to dribble and create all night... and watch him constantly turn it over... that's on you TJ!

You missed Toure's ball sailing out if nounds or Tamin closing the game out for TCU with the run out dunk?

JJ wasn't good but the flinching was a team thing tonight and if you think the coaches want that...we'll never mind.

Geez, I know we're all fanatics prone to overreaction because of our Cyclone passion, but we're fine. These kinds of games happen. Illinois has looked unstoppable and they lost to a meh Wisky team tonight. Nebraska has hit a skid.

We'll rebound by winning a couple of these big upcoming games and we'll all be flying high again.

Sorry folks, JJ needs to understand that next level requires taking care of the ball.
Pity a team that takes him in the first 3 rounds

If I’m honest I dont think the cost of wearing g ourselves out to win the conference is worth it. Get a top 3-4 seed often and we will be fine
Exactly. This is more of a tournament team than it is a long haul conference schedule team. Shooters get hot, intense defense, and facing unfamiliar teams for 3 or 4 wins

Not if Jefferson dribbles this much.

I'm astounded he has possessions where he dribbles for a lot of the shot clock - turns it over. And then TJ allows it to happen in the next half. We need to have the offense flow through Tamin and Milan.
Would rather see guards handle on the perimeter, initiate the offense then feed JJ in the high post where he can create after some offensive motion stresses the defense.

When this team gets off track they don't seem to get back on it for the rest of the game. That's on TJ and the coaches.

Lack of ball movement, bad switching, and JJ trying to play hero ball and coughing it up 6 times. Also never took advantage of playing inside out.

Nobody played well tonight. Idiotic turnovers and coaches who can’t apparently figure out how to run plays against high ball screen pressure. Every damn time we had all 5 guys above the arc and 2 guys standing next to each other to start out sets
